I've been itching to get out with the Arken Zulus shod 222 in the day for a test.
Fallow stalking was a flop again. 4:30 am start for nothing again so after a rest I went crow hunting with the triple
So far so good, I'm quite impressed actually.
Ok it's not glass but non the less effective.

I got on a crow and using the laser it said 320yards. I guessed the hold but forgot to add some wind and the bullet just missed down the side of the crow!
The next crow read 228 yards but I was getting some errors and was running out of time for the crow was onto me. I shot the crow quite easily.
I like the unit. It's light and tiny also.IMG_20240225_130412.webp
It seems to struggle with automatic recording of shots. A bit hot and miss and timing can be out.
I may disable it and just go manual. For example...

Good shot on the crow. The Zulus is indeed a very capable and compact unit. The problem with the auto record not working is - I believe - insufficient recoil. I use a heavy varmint .243 and experience it with the Zulus. I had the same issue with my PARD007SP. At least the Zulus 'record' button is very easy to find and quick to operate. I just focus and as my hand moves back I press the record button on the way.
I'm particularly impressed with the ballistic calculator using the LRF and Holdover method though.

I'm a bit overwhelmed with the ballistic calculator to be honest.
One day I'll get my head around it.

I was a bit amazed when you told me youd gone for Lrf version mate!! 🤣🤣
Well I thought that at night I can be out in range estimation so I thought the laser will remove all the guessing etc.
It'll be a rare moment if I shoot further than 200 yards at night. Maybe when I was younger but not now.....

Big part of it imo getting them close or stalking in.

I’m currently experiencing problems with the range finder/Bal calc unit.
Whatever I range it displays either ‘Range Error’ or ‘Out of range’.
On the occasions it does show a range (And sometimes it does) the calculator fails to light up a corrected aiming mark in the reticle.
All lenses are clean.
Disappointing.
Today I will reset it to factory settings and start over.
Ken.

So it does. Didn't have my reading glasses on lol.
Mine was giving error readings yesterday. I think it has to be held very still to work!
Mine will give error readings if the range is greater tham the maximum range I've input in the ballistic Table.
Also when my fingers stray slightly over the front of the LRF, easily done when I use my thumb to press the button, particularly if wearing gloves.

I had that problem when I used my iPhone. Turns out it was the operating software in the phone corrupting the data I sent to the scope.
I spent many messages with Billy and Bruce on Airgun forum who were incredibly patient and helpful. I bought a cheap Motorola Android phone and bingo it worked.
If you are not on the AG forum I suggest you have a look on there as there is plenty of help and advice.

Not guilty to any of those.
Cheers, Ken.
