Perhaps going forwards you'd need to be a supporter to qualify for this like the monthly draw it's a small price long term.

But it does potentially create an opportunity for people (youngsters in particular) who couldn't otherwise afford to do DSC1. The same people who probably couldn't afford a regular subscription either.

Congratulations to the winners, I will reapply next year. Whilst a tilt the the younger members would possibly benefit the likes of me, I much prefer the egalitarianism of a level field for all. Great prize, fingers crossed for 2025!

Being a supporter of the site was primarily set up to help pay for those younger or less fortunate members to have a chance at taking Level 1. However a few years back we found it was impossible to apply this rule. One would hope that more members would become supporters, as you so rightly say, its a very small sum of money to pay, plus you could be a winner of the monthly draw.

I guess many think it costs nothing to run the site, and our time spent running and managing it has vastly grown over the years. But giving something back to fellow stalkers and country people is what the site is about, along with making contacts and friends. One would hope that a few more will become supporters, but to apply the chance of winning the draw to just the supporters is not in the spirit of things in my opinion.

I have been a past beneficiary of the scheme, I have since met a great group of people and enjoyed the pleasure of five stalks.
I am now a supporter of the site and hope that it will continue to benefit members in the future.

Well, nobody's been on to report tears before bedtime, so I'm guessing the shooting test must've gone OK today....?

What I will say is that at least 3 of the original winners, bailed out for various excuses, even after it was all settled with BDS. To be honest that rather wasted my time, and was very annoying.

Today is their last day on the course, so I wish all 5 members the best of luck.
