Renewed my BASC membership a couple of days ago, they requested a contact number and guess what..... I’ve started getting 2/3 sales calls a day, phone goes, stop work, put the tools down and get “ good morning my friend and how’s your day going?” FFS enough!!!

Funny but my phones been blowing up since Guntrader failed utterly in their duty of care for my data then dumped their responsibility by carrying out a phoenix restart of the company. That’s a proven abuse of data unlike this unfounded BASC bashing.

More likely just a coincidence,

Much like spam emails spiking as botnets peak and trough, the same will happen with your phone number and auto-diallers. If you've ever been part of a data leak and chances are that you have been at some point then your phone number and email are out there. I've had several nuisance calls in the last week and then will get nothing for several months and then they will kick in again.

Haveibeenpwned is a good way to see whether your email address has been leaked as part of a breach, and if your email has been then it's likely your phone number has as well as normally all within the same DB.

Man, I gotta tell ya, it’s no coincidence at all.

I renewed my BASC membership the other day and guess what?…. I dropped a concrete block on my foot this morning !

There is nothing to “ clear up” the facts are as posted and the callers didn’t get as far as actually subjecting me to their pitch once I realised it was a sales call. Bit of a coincidence though as I just don’t get that type of call.

Anyway methinks you protest too much sir.

These days we have to be very careful where we click online. Recently I've been literally bombarded with such a phone calls I mean about 10+ calls a day anytime. Good thing is my phone recognise that and I simply ignore and block the numbers. What I am trying to do now is deleting all my accounts and registrations everywhere and start again with carefully reading T&C's and if not happy just give it a miss. Don't think it's related with your BASC renewal personally

I try to be as careful as I can be who I share me data with, always opt out of cookies on websites but at the same time seem to go through periodic phases of receiving lots of unsolicited calls from nonsense callers…

Buying on the wonder web can bring you a world of Funny emails defo if you buy from the east they will sell your data on to anyone who offers a few shillings .
Set up a dump email account .
I used to get callers from Pakistan etc asking for wife i'd tell them ill just get her and let the phone bill grow ? other answer I'd give was "Hello you have reached the Internet fraud section" ! funny that one worked well ???
My information was tracked to Telewest customer Accounts India another coincidence our information has a value and it can be found and sold and is !

Thanks. The only call you would get related to your BASC renewal would be from our membership team if there was a query in relation to your renewal. The spam calls you are receiving may be coincidental to your renewal but have nothing to do with it. I hope that helps ally your concerns.
