FAC for DSC1

Be careful not all shooters can use a lent rifle on DSC1 test .
Two of us lent the rifle it suited me but the other guy failed because he wears glasses and could not alter the scope .
So he failed the shooting test only and had to re sit but how he felt must a have really p him off as i saw the look on his face.

So go prepared and pass

One guy on the shooting test on pre DSC1 “ failed” the shooting test, however in discussion with him he mentioned “ I don’t understand it, I gave the barrel a thorough clean and oiled it” I mentioned fouling shots and he stared back blankly, good job he made the error at the pre DSC1 not the actual course
Cleaning a rifle is unlikely to have affected its accuracy to any significant extent, especially at the short distances involved. More likely to have simply been nerves.

He failed the 100 yd test did not keep them all in the 4 inch circle, I take your point nerves will be a factor but a well cleaned and oiled barrel for first couple of shots won’t help. That’s why I think these pre DSC1 days are good foundation and the “ Pressure” you feel doing the shooting test with everyone else looking on recreates what you will feel on test day

Hence the old adage - "The more I practice the luckier I get".
and the 7P rule - Proper Prior Preparation Prevents P**s Poor Performance.

My rifle gets cleaned after I've been stalking and puy away. I don't fire fowling shots before I go stalking next time.

I suspect his issue was nerves.

I've seen a lot of people fail to put 3 shots in a 4" circle at 100 yards. They're invariably the people who have been telling me much shooting they do and how they can shooting X at X yards...
