Advice sought from 6.5PRC owners/users

Hi geo

When I was looking at buying this caliber I had the same concerns.
Found plenty of ammo available and most hornady stockist can get it in relatively quickly.
Been shooting the 143 grain hornady precision hunter can not say enough good things about this caliber low recoil more accurate than I ever could be and dropped everything I have shot so far.
I have not taken anything else out the gun cabinet since I have purchased.

Thanks
Mike

Thanks team
Your collective replies are greatly reassuring
I now have an order placed for a Sako S20 in 6.5PRC and my variation paperwork is off to the Met Police FET - let the waiting begin
Thanks again folks

I sent in a variation to the Met about two weeks ago for a 6.5 PRC as well. It will be interesting to see if we’re both waiting the same amount of time

I originally thought mine was then it arrived at 20 " . I ll have to work with it and get the max out of it I can . I want it solely for hunting so it being compact isn't really a negative for me , as has been pointed out it won't allow the full potential of the cartridge .

There's a 6.5 PRC Facebook group , read through the post's , there was a guy with the 20" barrel loading Superperformance powder at nearly 3000fps with 156 ..........

Awaiting my 6.5 PRC variation too (Kent Police) with much money already thrown at the project - namely a PSE Evo stock. I nearly fainted at the cost of lead-free factory PRC, but then realised the ridiculous amount I’ve already spent and gave myself a stern talking to. I’ll hand load eventually, but want to get proficient with a factory round I can use during my DSC1.

Any favourite lead-free brands you’ve all used?

Lead free - Yew Tree, only available as projectiles/bullets though at the moment.
Also great service and advice.

Do you have to use factory rounds for DSC?
The one I’m looking at specifies no hand loads, factory only… no idea if that is normal or not, tbh. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The 112gr 6.5 heads look well priced. I assume it’s a long bullet to make up the weight? Not really an issue as my PRC will be long action.

112gr…? If you really want to benefit from the cartridge there are much better bullets to choose from.
DG
It’s the only bullet weight for 6.5 I could find on the Yew Tree site… I know the Hornady CX heads go much heavier, other brands too I’m sure.
