Advice sought from 6.5PRC owners/users

I went to it because I had a couple of unexplainable misses at 500m + with the 147 grain eldm, and on investigation the internet had similar stories. It seems that 3000 fps and some barrels were not compatible. I had a superb run with 162 Amax @2860 out of my 280 - so im not prejudiced against Hornady, but I'm honest enough with myself to know when I'm on and when I'm not, and these weren't my fault.
I've been using Norma bullets since I was 16 and loading for a 8x57, so the Bondstrike looked like a reasonable risk.
Very easy load development and a couple of dozen deer later I'm happy.

Google 147 eldm blowup. There is plenty out there. It seems some barrels are more likely to be involved than other brands, and 3000 fps seems to be the number where it starts going wrong.

Depends on twist rate and bullet construction

Not all bullets are equal

Solids don’t come apart

Does anyone shoot the Hornady CX? is my only current choice for non-lead at the moment. I haven't even stuck a scope on mine yet.

Got 20 rounds of ELD-X to zero with it and break the barrel in but that's it.
Sighted mine in with Outfitter ammo (130gr CX), really good "group" sizes around 0.5-0.6"

I'm thinking of going for a new rifle and my current favourite is the 6.5PRC, probably in a Sako.
So, I have a couple of questions for those who actually use a 6.5PRC, if you don't mind?

Is ammo availability good/bad/indifferent?
How difficult/easy are loading components to obtain?

I'm not asking those who don't own one for a discourse on comparison to other chamberings
I'm just seeking some pointers on any potential logistical pitfalls of 6.5PRC ownership & use, especially in terms of ammo supply.
TIA

I had one I bought used in a lower grade Savage . One of the Savage deals that comes with a less than stellar scope attached in Mickey Mouse mounts . Anyway I bought it cheap replaced the scope with an Athlon 4-16 and fiddled with the trigger . Worked up loads for it with the Hornady 143 ELD-X , 140 SST and Nosler 140 BT . All three from the bench at 100 yards for three shots were at the 1/4 MOA range . Killed one fat whitetail for with it using the 143 ELD at 43 yards it was pretty much boom flop . Performed great but I’m not a great fan of Savage rifles , nothing wrong with them just not my preference . I also have a 6.5 Sherman Short Mag that does about 200 FPS more than I could squeeze from the PRC . So I put it on the rack at the shop and sold it for a small profit . Let me reiterate the gun passed with flying colors but I have a habit of buying a rifle shooting it a bit killing a deer or three and sending it down the road .

I’ve just looked these bullets up. For a lead core bullet, I’ll be leaving them on the shelf at £106/100 (not loaded ammunition)

Ah - but they’re bound to make you both a better stalker AND more handsome.
