Forgot to post this, sorryI sent in a variation to the Met about two weeks ago for a 6.5 PRC as well. It will be interesting to see if we’re both waiting the same amount of time
Just over four weeks for mine, but I am extremely happy with thatI hope they are as quick as North Wales, two weeks for my last variation.
David.
I was wondering about these. Obviously hornady market them or recommend they big time on the podcast. But I wasn't sure if they would just pencil through UK deer.Does anyone shoot the Hornady CX? is my only current choice for non-lead at the moment. I haven't even stuck a scope on mine yet.
Got 20 rounds of ELD-X to zero with it and break the barrel in but that's it.
I am the same. Spend time looking or lose the front shoulders. I'm giving up the shoulders.I know they sell it hard on their shows. I shoot highland reds and roe so I don't mind damage. As long as it's accurate and knocks out the shoulders that's all that matters for me.
That’s mild expansion for Yew Tree out of a PRC.Brothers got Bergara wilderness
150m roe with yewtree ( I’ll post grain weight when I get it from him)
Took our heart … entry was like knitting needle hole but inside upper chest was soup and lost far shoulder
Certainly expand !!!!
Yes.Are there significant gains over the widely available 6.5 creedmoor?
Thank you, I've been toying with the idea of putting in for a variation. These 2 are top of the list.Yes.
Factory ammo, 143gr eldx will be around 2700 fps in Creedmoor and 3000 fps in PRC, if shot from same barrel length.
I have both. The Creedmoor is a lovely general purpose, no brain round for roe and shorter ranges on the larger deer. The PRC is an emphatic killer that is really too damaging for roe, but enormously useful on the open hill in wind or shooting things like sika in big clearfell patches.
Despite something of a recent fad insisting that there’s not really any difference, there is. A substantial difference.
However, you don’t NEED either. Any standard deer cartridge will do. And if you have a Creedmoor and are happy with it, there’s no compelling reason to get a PRC. Similarly, if you have a .270 or a .25-06 or any other higher velocity open hill oriented gun, there’s not much reason to change.
If the bulk of your shooting is under 200m and/or in woodland, with a lot of roe, then Creedmoor is probably the better option.Thank you, I've been toying with the idea of putting in for a variation. These 2 are top of the list.

My revised FAC was returned to me this week - on Tuesday 10/06 - which makes it just over 20 working days since submission
That's lightning fast by Met standards, and very welcome
Haven't had time to pick up the new rifle yet though
Hoping to do that on Monday
Best of luck with yours
Very similar timelines as myself. Always have had good experiences with MET.Forgot to post this, sorry

Great stuff, I have had bad experiences with the Met previously, but have to admit that the worst was many years ago - they seem to have improved of lateVery similar timelines as myself. Always have had good experiences with MET.

Is Bondstrike a lead bullet?I've been using 143 grain Norma Bondstrike projectiles in a 6.5SAUM, at similar velocities to your PRC. They are very good, with excellent accuracy and reliable opening at velocities from 2950-2000 fps. I've killed deer from 15 - 600+m with them, and only got one back from a very large Fallow shot through both shoulders at 450m.
Yes.Is Bondstrike a lead bullet?
Sounds excellent.Yes.
