30-30 lever action

I love the 30-30 however the open sights were very disappointing. After a season in and out of a gun slip they were completely off. Got a set of ghost sights off Kai Hauk the German Lever action expert this year. Not fitted yet.

Would not a Williams peep sight be better?

Not sure what these are called, anyway this is the one I have. Skinner "Trapper". Just want something sturdy. Anyone used one of these?

I've put Skinner Express sights on a few rifles , but I haven't used the Trapper version . I really like Skinner sights , extremely solid and easy to use . The initial sighting in adjustments can be a bit tedious , but once they're set , they won't move . You'll like them .

Great thanks, i mostly just do the maths and use a vernier to adjust when sighting in open sights. normally only use a few rounds. once that is sorted i will use the 30-30 more.

I use the winged version. In my humble opinion and limited experience, it is superior to any optic for the hunting I do in the area I live:IMG_1355~2.webpIMG_1353~2.webp

Skinner are also a really cool company who will actually talk to you and engage with your questions and suggestions.

I only wish that they would make a version of their sight to mount to a Weaver pattern base, but that's another story!

@ejg I am sure you will find this to be a substantial upgrade
