You don't need them, but they're worth having and you'll benefit from doing them. Are DSC1& 2 courses just a money making scheme , do you really need them ?
So they are a money making scheme at the momentYou don't need them, but they're worth having and you'll benefit from doing them.
The only thing you actually need is the LGMH qualification, and then only if you're selling carcasses to an AGHE, or processing venison for sale.
Why would you subscribe to a money making scheme? Why would anyone not want to do DSC1?
Yes I think it will become mandatory the more who subscribe to these courses are coursing another nail in the coffin for our freedom imoIronic thing about L1 and L2 it’s not mandatory. YET but I believe it will be nearer the horizon very shortlyparticularly after recent parliamentary changes
Life experience is worth more than any qualifications imoYou will get the same mix of opinions as when asking about other qualifications, one end saying experience doing it and university of life etc and those that think it’s adds to their experience. I have completed both and learned stuff on both, in the DSC1 I also learned some tips from fellow course members. Also now more and more syndicates and permissions are asking for them as a prerequisite
I guess the guy with dsc1 will be shooting their squirrels thenLife experience is worth more than any qualifications imo
Thing is I contacted national trust about squirrel control , they came back saying I need dsc1 to shoot squirrels on national trust land , this is why I say more who subscribe the more we will need , not just shooting but in all walks of life
Yes probably totally ridiculous Will only get worse with the far left woke in powerI guess the guy with dsc1 will be shooting their squirrels then![]()
I agree with you but it’s the way things are , yes you can get permissions on farms , through friends etc with years of experience and no qualifications ,but ,any organisations these days look at people with a qualification as a way to prove they are safe , knowledgeable and will let them onto their land to shoot ,would you let an armed stranger onto your property not knowing anything of their experience?Life experience is worth more than any qualifications imo

But most of us have FAC surly that is a good indication, specially with what we have to go through every five yearsI agree with you but it’s the way things are , yes you can get permissions on farms , through friends etc with years of experience and no qualifications ,but ,any organisations these days look at people with a qualification as a way to prove they are safe , knowledgeable and will let them onto their land to shoot ,would you let an armed stranger onto your property not knowing anything of their experience?
It’s not compulsory but more and more people will look at you having proof of experience/qualification
Same as having to have a certificate to possess firearms ! Once upon a time it wasn’t necessary !
