Just looking through optics warehouse and found this in their deer stalking scopes? Whats not to like when on a budget ?? Any one tried one? Any recommendations on GPO

I have one on my .243. I also have a Zeiss variable mag scope on my .308.
Glass brightness on the GPO is as good as the Zeiss.
....
Such statements aren't really helpful.

Which Zeiss are you talking about? Terra, Conquest, Duralyth, V4, V6, V8, HT, Classic, Varipoint, .....?
Zeiss isn't just Zeiss.

For that asking price, what's not to like?
Have a look at the video below for a view too.....

Great video

Wow....bit early to be so grumpy isn't it? Now I know Germany are out of the Euros.....

The point I was trying (and clearly failing in your less than humble opinion) to make, is comparing a midrange German company (Zeiss) with a cheaper German company product, rather than a specific range.

For the pedant police........my .308 currently wears a 2x8 Conquest DL. Not sure of the serial number off hand.....but can always get it for you if you need the specifics......

Oh and didn't know Zeiss made a range called Duralyth.

Field of view are narrow i want the low magnification to be 1-2x on a variable scope on a fixed it can be 2,5 or 4x. Fixed 7,5x you can only see hair on a big animal close up.

Guys i am a novice stalker i dont need to split hairs with what scope out does what just like the look of the gpo for the money yes better scopes available but for me i wouldnt really be able to tell the difference between a good scope and a top scope

This gpo seems to tick my boxs tho 4-16x50

This puts it all into perspective. The Conquest DL's were the start of Zeiss's European low budget strategy. No wonder, you didn't see any difference.

BTW, I'M NOT GRUMPY!! :tiphat:

Im leaning towards the second one i put up the 16x50 looks a good one

I'm so glad my information has been able to relieve what must have been such a stressful situation for you.

Seems like Germany finally adopted a European wide strategy that worked.......

I have a 7.5 x 50 on my .308 and quite frankly cannot see much difference between it and my Schmidt 3-12 x 50 when brought down to similar magnification on my 30-06.
Worth every penny I reckon.

To add my opinion from being an owner and user of both gpo and having had zeiss and swaro etc.... the gpo is punching above its price tag without doubt! I have the spectra 4-16×50 with the g4 drop reticle (ballistic ret with illuminated centre dot).

Great scope for the money. I've been using one for aprox 12 months after a lifetime of using Schmidt and Bender.
The illuminated dot works well, with many intensities for low light situations.Glass is crisp and clear, and I think but pretty sure there's a lifetime warranty.

GPO have really come along last few years, offering great entry optics.
Coincidentally I've also bought one of their range finding binoculars to replace my Leicas.

Wanted to bring this back up. Has anyone tested the durability of the GPO scopes? Does it track reliably when dialing? Thanks
