Leicestershire Firearms application set back

Applied for my Firearms and Shotgun Licenses back in October 2023, rang them for an update to find out that my application isn't on their system and there is no trace of me.

I am getting a little worried/ frustrated because I rang again today and was again told that there is no trace of me!? This is despite being told the copies of my application I sent via email would be accepted and processed back in February.

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues?
Have you written to them enquiring as to what the current position is with regard to your apparently missing application?
I would give them 14 days to reply and then if not satisfied with the response consider making a formal complaint addressed to the Chief Constable with a copy to the PCC.

Perhaps ask them who the issue can be referred to higher up so that you can escalate, as a slightly softer approach?

If that meets with a brick wall then go all out as you have suggested above.

I wrote to the firearms department but was told that post isn't accepted and would just be returned!? Needless to say I haven't received the post back.

Every time I have rang the firearms department the person that deals with applications has been on annual leave (unfortunate timing) so I am waiting until Wednesday for an update.

In the meantime I am drafting a letter to the constable just to let them know and put them in the picture, bringing the issue to their attention and hopefully getting some advice.

Its not the not progressed but the incompetence of loosing it twice having taken your money
Too blinking true. Sheer incompetence.

That's absolute nonsense and quite unacceptable to simply say "we don't accept post".

i hope he is doing better than me.
i was told 11days ago i was top of the list.
sterling work from cambs,i really hope his arent over paid jobsworths

If you have a payment receipt/record and a ref from submission online, then surely they need to be pressed to get it sorted and catch up as soon as they can? I have a friend who was sat for month waiting and the force had no record of their application and it was completely lost. However, they had no ref number and the cheque hadn't been cashed, so there was literally nothing to be done other than apply again, although it was processed fairly quickly. If you have references and proof, then surely the ball is in the police court to fix what is clearly their problem?

Reply in writing to Cheif Constable and tell them that they have failed to secure my personal information, and that their data protection needs reviewing.
Provide e-mail confirmation that you sent it in and any corresponding evidence you have of them acknowledging your application.

Yes I did think that. His sensitive personal information is potentially sitting on desk or train somewhere.
