Leicestershire Firearms application set back

Applied for my Firearms and Shotgun Licenses back in October 2023, rang them for an update to find out that my application isn't on their system and there is no trace of me.

I am getting a little worried/ frustrated because I rang again today and was again told that there is no trace of me!? This is despite being told the copies of my application I sent via email would be accepted and processed back in February.

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues?

Was payment accepted or do they only redeem the monies if and when the application is granted?

Yes payment was accepted and taken on the day I applied, I even have an application reference number that seemingly doesn't correspond to me.

Well they can’t dispute you submitted an application. It is therefore a matter for your FLD to resolve and inform you how this will be achieved.

If they insist on a further on-line application, be sure to ask for clarity in how you will achieve this without making a 2nd payment. Hopefully you have the hard copy GP paperwork or a scan so that won’t be a problem unless there’s an expiry date.

I have had nothing but fair, straight and timeous dealings with Leics Firearms Licencing. Last renewal was done online with the usual home visit.

Klenchblaize - Fortunately I was told that the copies I had of everything could be sent via email and was later told this was accepted. However I also posted all of these documents including the original medical so hoping that this won't be required as I only have a picture of that document.
The original was accepted amd signed for by the Police.

NolDeer and Rutland lad - It's great to hear that things are usually good it must just be a rare occurrence and an unfortunate one for me.

Inefficiency in firearms licensing in certain county's, who would have thought

your one month ahead of me, cambs have just let my ticket run out, all my guns are now signed over ro my girlfriend. at least u got a letter saying if they were in my possesion i could face 5 years in prison.

You couldn't have got them in
In time usually 12 weeks before expiry or you would have had a 2 month extension

on about 5 november for mid jan expire,got the extension till 11 march. only got the renewal paper work late oct. the staff ive spoken too said its a shambles

I sent in everything again via email.

Then I posted everything with recorded post, including the original medical proforma as I thought this would help them out. Probably a mistake on my behalf sending the original but I would have thought the police would keep my documents safe?

Yeah, like when they rang me to see what shotguns I've got. I said you tell me, wrong answer apparently. They asked if I still had 3 guns, no I'd sold them up to 3 years before and they'd been notified properly.

It kind of feels like my application is being forgotten. I don't want to be ringing every week and be annoying but is that something I should be doing?

I just want to be able to progress in my deer stalking and apply for my dsc1 and book outings using my own rifle.

You have an automatic 2 month extension from the original licence.

i know, my original ran out in jan, extension ran out in march

Had some terrible experiences with Leics. Wrong details on cert and errors they should have spotted before I got it. Understaffed is the main issue, the lady in the office is very helpful, but not enough staff to cover the area.
