Cocktails !

Dark and stormy for me, you can put a twist on it with a bit of thatchers orange, but best done with a jug or a pint glass.

Unless you’re adding champagne, absinthe, bloody gin or whatever to make it a cocktail then your in the wrong thread 😂
Whilst on my one and only visit to Ireland, I was enjoying truly excellent Guinness. Chatting to the barman after a few pints, he asked if I'd tried "Best of Both", no said I but I'll give it a go. It was Smethwicks Red Ale in the bottom half of the pint and Guinness in the top.
Guess it could be called a cocktail, it was certainly different!

Old Fashioned.

Margarita.

Cosmopolitan.

Long Island Iced Tea.

Espresso Martini.

White Russian.

And many, many others..

If you like Margaritas, then Stone Cold Steve Austin has a great recipe called 'Broken Skull Margaritas'.

2oz of Tequila
1oz of lime juice
1.5oz of Triple Sec/Cointreau
A dash of Agave nectar

Shake all that up, into a glass over ice, then float around 1.5oz of Grand Marnier on the top.

They are devine.

Cream Soda - best served in a pint glass with lots of ice, at the Saxon Warrior

double Vodka
double Bacardi
dash of black currant
top off with lemonade

I only tend to drink cocktails through work. I do enjoy them but prefer simple drinks and in moderation. A Dirty Martini is a favourite as it comes with its own wee snack. I do drink a lot of Espresso Martinis but consider them a coffee rather than cocktail. Whisky is best straight, but if I get onto the Old Fashioneds I know I’m done.

I do not drink very much at all. I will have a Beer if i am away with my mates shooting, but not at home at all.

This is where you lads will no doubt take the Pee.

I really liked a Pina Colada. My late wife and i enjoyed Cyprus and stayed near Paphos. There was a lovely Cocktail Bar that had a great atmosphere. Spent some lovely, warm evenings sampling their offerings. I have to say that Pina Colada was my favourite. Basically white rum, coconut cream and pineapple juice, plenty crushed ice. We did sample most of their offerings, and after all, it would have been rude not too. But Pina Colada was always my go to.

There, i have said it. I await the onslaught of laughter and finger pointing.
