I’m going to home load for my Sako 75 .308. Up to now I’ve been using Sako Gamehead 123gn for muntjac up to reds. I’ll be using Viht N140 powder. What bullet heads would people recommend? Cheers.

I use 165SST with N140 and 178 ELDX with N150. Then 185 Berger juggernaut for plinking. All three are like lasers.

I use yewtree 126gn with N133 (I believe N140 is a bit slow to get the most out of that weight of bullet, yewtree are very good with advice so worth fropping them a line )

Good old Sierra Game King 150gn soft point.

Powered by N140, I’ve not moved over to non-lead yet in homeloads.

Which bullets?

I have a Sako 75 in .308 and use N140 for the following:-

185gr Berger - Target
175gr SMK - Target
155gr SMK - Target

126.5gr Yewtree (non-lead) Deer
140gr Nielsen (non-lead) Deer.

N140 is a rather wonderful recipe.

I use copper. Like many others here note, 130gr TTSX are doing the Lord's Work. I use 46.2gr of Viht N140 to get about 2800 fps.

I have a second load I quite like to use in my shorter barrel rifle in close woodland shooting: 125gr Hornady ECX. Terrible ballistic coefficient, but since 90% of my shooting is <100m, they are perfect and have tremendous ballistic effect. 46gr of N140.

I have recently purchased some Wapiti 127 gr .30cal .308″ C-HP which I plan to load the same as the other two above, to see if the hollow-point coppers do the business well.
