Sling recommendations???

That's a clever and functional solution but the Op was clear in not wanting secondary attachments:

"Must be standard sling type configuration rather than having extra straps etc."

I have used a ‘z-aim’ sling which is similar to this one. I found the extra strap a bit of a faff and it interfered with thermal/binocular straps etc. just didn’t really get on with it.

Saddler made with rubber rein grip. Don’t try too wide, if the sling is wide for comfort, it’s because the load is being spread over a wider area, reducing the grip overall.

‘Maximal Pleasure/ grip’ 🤣 1”; Black, brown or orange-red available, various widths, I don’t think they do them in ‘Klenchblaize green’…

I've always used a canvas sling with a neoprene inside.
I've noticed as well that I've worn the outer coating from it over the years, and my shoulder on my jacket has faded where the sling sits.
it doesn't help if your a of slight build or have sloping shoulders either
I regularly have to pull my rifle/sling back onto my shoulder because it feels like its going to slip off, but in reality its only moved 1/2"at most

This stuff looks and is great for the purpose in question but keep oil and other shooting related products away from it as the rubber will become tacky and transfer to clothing and the stock.

Are you sure that you don't have slopey shoulders? I know a few people at work who have and probably would never be able to keep a rifle in place.
