Showing off my new toys/porn

I've had a very strong case of rifle-itis for some time now. Cutting a long story short, I ordered a new Bergara break-action because I wanted something smaller and pointer to carry/handle than my T3x, and because I enjoy something a bit different. My plan was to buy a lightweight moderator and stick a small-ish scope on it for woodland stalking. The new rifle order was subject to a multitude of setbacks and cock ups, culminating in the distributor going out of business and me losing patience/interest, etc.

Naturally, I decided to s̶a̶v̶e̶ m̶y̶ m̶o̶n̶e̶y̶ a̶n̶d̶ k̶e̶e̶p̶ m̶y̶ e̶x̶i̶s̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ p̶e̶r̶f̶e̶c̶t̶l̶y̶ u̶s̶a̶b̶l̶e̶ r̶i̶f̶l̶e̶ use that as an excuse to buy something different that I've been coveting since I first saw it - a Tikka Super Varmint!

Happy Christmas to me! 😂

Below are my two rifles set up as I intend to use them. The new Super Varmint above in 6.5 creedmoor, and my older slightly customised T3x Veil in 308, with newly downsized scope and factory-standard muzzle brake in place of its moderator.

I'm ridiculously pleased with myself!

i have a super varmint, 2 things its not, small and pointy, or light come to that
love mine though, where did you have the cheek raiser done on the veil, id like one of them but i cant do with not
having a cheek raiser on my rifles.
i also have the wildcat on mine, but n ow moved to a A-tec H3, quieter, shorter and not as heavy,

Aye, it's a heavy beast, although in truth it's not THAT much heavier than the veil was when it had that same scope on, and equivalent mod. I also love mine, I was genuinely laughing and grinning at the accuracy of it on the range.

It's a Kalix Teknik cheek riser on the Veil, I installed it myself. They're supplied with a model-specific template for drilling the stock, it's easy. 100% worth it, and something I don't think I could do without now that I've had one. I also have a two-stage trigger on the veil.

Is the kalix on the right way round?

Also dont forgot the ear protection with that radial brake. I’ve been there with a pal who was next to me and it wasn’t pleasant 🤣

I have to say great rifles and well thought out.

No.
Only because you can get the bolt out without having to adjust it when it's that way around, and it didn't seem any worse in use 🤷‍♂️

I've also been treated to a dose of tinnitus by someone nearby using a brake without warning anybody they were about to start. I didn't enjoy it, so mods/plugs for anybody accompanyig me is definitely one to remember.
I did put a group through with the mod back on as well, and made a note of the scope adjustments needed if I do want to. It actually shot slightly better with the brake and I love the compact handling.

Nice setups although I’d never shoot an unmoderated rifle these days life’s to short and I’m deaf enough as it is..
Sat next to some 338 lapau unmoderated with a brake the other day Christ that was unpleasant not to mention the gravel it kicked up.

I've got a fairly decent set of electronic moulded plugs which I wear for rough shooting and will use if/when stalking with no moderator... How (and why!) some people routinely use unmoderated rifles or shotguns, without ear protection, is beyond me...
Having said that I've come across some very useless examples of moderators as well.
