For Sale: “Ugly Annealer” Gas Annealer

The Ugly Annealer is a gas-flame annealing machine for your brass cases. Annealing your cases will lead to longer case-life, and more consistent reloads (i.e. lower ES and SD), and with the Ugly Annealer this process is now affordable to all within the reloading community!

The machine case is made of #201 stainless steel, with the clear front panel being impact-resistant polycarbonate - costing 3x as much as acrylic but being nearly indestructible.

The standard package includes 5 CNC milled caliber conversion inserts covering:

223REM
7.62*39mm
308WIN
300WM
338LM
and finally.....50BMG when used without any inserts.

The rotation wheels should last a lifetime as the aluminium is heat resistant and are nickel coated with natural diamond grit for a permanent nonslip coating.

The package includes two wheels - a 25mm wheel for most cases, and also a 15mm wheel for shorter cases such as 6mmBR.

The machine comes with a CNC-made adjustable clamp compatible with gas pencil torches with an OD 12.70mm-13.0mm (such as the Bernzomatic) and a universal propane bottle holder is also included for when using other gas torches (such as the Fine Flame).

The motor used is also high quality, and should be able to anneal at least 900,000 brass (at 10 pieces per minute) or an average 1500 hours run time (at max speed without stalling) before replacement is needed.

What’s inside the package:

• 1 x assorting box with spare springs, screws, c-clips etc
• 1 x set of quality Allen keys
• 5 x CNC-made caliber inserts shown in the photo. compatible with common calibers 223REM, 7.62*39mm, 308WIN, 300WM, 338LM
• 1 x universal gas bottle stand
• 1 x gas nozzle clamp
• 1 x polycarbonate guide panel
• 1 x brass rolling ramp
• 2 x nickel diamond coated wheel, in 15mm and 20mm thickness
• 1 x CNC-made catching wheel with 50BMG slot
• 1 x user instruction
• 1 x power adapter
• 1 x Ugly Annealer main body, with bottom plate
• 1 x accessories pouch

The only thing you'll need is gas (we recommend any commercial 400g bottle of Propane) and a gas torch (available separately on the website).

AVAILABLE IN SILVER, OR NEW UK ANODISED COLOUR SCHEME

Have you a full list of compatible calibres…?
DG
The inserts are “family” based eg the 308 insert suits a 6.5 Creedmoor or 6mmBR. I personally use the 300WM insert for my 6.5PRC, in addition to the 223, 6BR and 6.5 Creedmoor.

The clearance on each insert is listed on them themselves:
223 = 10.2mm
7.62x39 = 12mm
308 = 12.6mm
300WM = 14mm
338LM = 15.9mm

To some extent it is just “common sense” really. There is also a dedicated 17/22 Hornet insert available separately for the extra small cases.

For the £ these are. Nothing beats them.

Very easy to setup and run, and well built too.

I seem to remember too when I bought mine spare parts are readily available too @Derraco
The likes of the motor if worn out can be easily replaced?

There are indeed, and in fact I now have the motor here in the UK, so should you be such a monster as to manage to wear one out, it’s an easy swap.

I agree about the value for money thing as well (well, I mean obviously I’m going to say that!) but you’re right, especially when you take into account that it includes ALL the different inserts to suitors much all calibres, plus the 2 different size wheels, you really don’t need anything other than gas and a torch!

Will it have inserts for .300NM available and maybe 7mm RSAUM
I’m making a semi-educated predication here, but the 7 SAUM should fit nicely into the 300WM insert, and the 300NM should fit nicely into 338LM insert 👌🏼

The inserts aren’t really designed to be ONLY for that calibre, it’s just a general guide, as per above where the 308 would suit a whole range of cartridges, for example. Just look at the case diameter, so the 7 SAUM is 13.56mm diameter, thus uses the 300WM insert (14mm).

Been pondering one of these for a while! How many cases on average will a 400g propane bottle last?
A very good question, but relatively impossible to answer I’m afraid! Depends on the brass (calibre and quality) as some won’t need much cooking, some will need a lot 🤷🏼

But I buy them from an online plumbing merchants and they’re about £6 each. At a completely random guess I’d say maybe 2000?! But that really is a wild guess. You’ve given me something to monitor now! 😂

Oh bloody hell i was thinking a few hundred at most! I load both .223 and 6.5 for target if that gives any indication? I dont know too much about annealing yet so wouldnt know how long to do each one for

Yes you would get around 2000 I'd guess. I know I've done around 500 maybe more between 223 and 6.5CM and there's plenty left in the tank

If you want to chat about annealing or anything like that, don’t hesitate to drop me an email to DerracoUK@gmail.com or my number is 07356 030108 👌🏼

Always happy to have a chinwag mate.

I'm very close to purchasing one of these. I just don't know if I will be reloading enough to justify the purchase.
