Out last night.

Fair enough and that is where we differ.
Shooting is my life and passion.
Don't get me wrong, the countryside in general really is my passion. Putting finishing touches to a ladder trap this week, hope to hit crows end of spring with it. Have 50kg of wildflower & shade tolerant woodland flowers seed to put down. More nest boxes going up tomorrow. Soon rat traps will turn into musselid traps. All this is on my time, not part of work.

More to the countryside than just shooting. 👍

Out last night, first permission clocked a fox at 100m - no safe shot, it moved to other side and promptly saw me and did a runner along fence line in my direction - shouted “Oi” then “Oi Fox” It wasn’t having any of it, fox slowed to disappear through fence and into woods, I rushed shot - clean miss and fox ran back the way he came - Fox 1 Me 0 🤦‍♂️

Off to next permission - clocked a fox 170m from me - sat there watching me - sky lined so no shot, tried squeeking which caused it to bugger off! Spent the next 30 minutes playing cat and mouse with it, finally got into a good position with it laying down - managed to get to 100m and took the shot

Solid thump and it was straight down - This was a Vixen and my 5th fox of the year.

Just shows the opportunists that foxes are
Out last night on a farm I had last been on 2 weeks ago, spotted a fox 400 yards away that had no interest in coming in to a call…only in dining on whatever had its full attention
I was able to get inside 200 yards to take the shot and dropped him on top of his last meal
Imagine my surprise when I found it was the remains of a vixen I had shot on the last visit and had disposed of in the hedge!
A big old dog fox he was too

Great stuff 👍

Good luck clearing up those pesky corvids 👍

Take care Sd, I got that respiratory flu thing, 7 weeks to get rid of it, had to have 2 courses of antibiotics & steroids, coughing all the time, thought I was dying, short of breath. You want to be careful cos it comes back again.
Think i am currently battling the same bug. A week in and still feel as rough as a badger’s arse!

Fickle buggers!

@Foxyboy43 be careful tomorrow in the wind!
Everything secure at home??
Thanx Smelly - just been bracing my new fence, securing the polytunnel as best I can and clearing the patio of anything blowable !
Fortunately we are in the lee of a large hill which has protected us well in previous big blows from the SW but you just never know so 🤞🤞.

Bugger bugger bugger...waited 2 hours in the cold wind and eventually Charlie pays a visit. I ping it only to get a message battery below 20% . I panic and shut down to change the cell.
By the time I'm booting up Charlie has gone...🤦
I didn't bloody need to panic, I could of taken a shot, why why why 😑

Normal for your age Smelly but worry not it will be back.
If I recall correctly the record function doesn’t work at that battery level anyhow.

Another out the bedroom window last night and another on the camera later on last night. It's like a fox graveyard out here now. Hunt want to lay a trail through here at the weekend - we agreed on a minor diversion so the hounds don't get, er, distracted

As 75 has started to clear up every fox in the county (good man) i have started on the rats on the feeders - ponds - covers - Had 50 odd last couple of nights

When the wind comes over that hill it will speed up as it comes (hugging the ground) down your side 😱
