Catch them in the act or prove it and hang them for all i care. Your inability to see that your language is loaded and could cause offence is amazing.
Do you know how many people that you tar might be reading this?
If i caused offence to any farmers i appolagise

Difference is, the farmer owns the land and is a law abiding system whereas the ‘gentlemen’ who were caught driving over his crops in their 4x4’s, causing all sorts of damage and illegally hunting deer with dogs are law breaking scum.
I have no time for people like that and they get called whatever they deserve because of what they do.

Whilst I absolutely defend the right for everyone to be treated equally in this country, no matter who or what you are, but when you break the law then you should waive the right to hold others to account for calling you a name you don’t like.
I would never advocate or accept racist tones in any way, but the P term does not relate to a race, more a mindset, and that is a totally different thing altogether imho.

On a diversity course regarding 'travellers' we were asked for our best interaction..... they laughed when I said that I once met one with less than 20 aliases on the Police National Computer! ( he was only a teenager though).

Any useful tips will be passed on to the gentlemen that I occasionally encounter, as their dogs don’t seem to have mastered it yet.

Use shortlegged dogs like a beagle who dont have any chance to catch a deer or a pushing dog like a labrador retriever and let the hunter who shoots the deer make the selection.

If you have a wayward spaniel, you shouldn't be on a Shoot, you should be back in school training the dog properly or leave the dog at home.

Funnily in my lifetime we used to get Lees and Coopers coming every year to pick spuds and to hoe and pull Swedes etc. Twice a year they would pull their Vardas on the same wide verge, cut out the turf for replacement after fires and dig latrines. They would leave it as they found it except for horse manure which we collected for gardens. You could trust them and even the keeper used to supply them with rabbits. Sadly apart from a couple of settled families who I count as good friends, the majority are now " Not worth a tinkers cuss," and the Irish name "Knackers" suits them well.

😂, your spaniels came trained at a guess, excited young spaniels can have a feral 5 mins at anytime when learning.

No, I put the time in with all my dogs and trained them properly. No matter if they were a Cocker, a Patterdale or a Toller I put the time in training them. I wouldn't walk an untrained dog, off lead, through a field of sheep so why would I take an untrained dog on a Shoot and let it off the lead? All the Shoots I've worked my dogs on would kick me off if my dogs were untrained and out of control.

Not all shoots are commercial, there are plenty of people running young dogs , rough shooting or family shoots. Not all dogs are trained to be robot like, especially when on their first few days out when excitement is through the roof.

Congrats on the work you have put into your dogs- personally I like mine to think for themselves at times and not waiting to be told to run left or right. Especially young dogs- mine are all broken to stock as small pups as lucky we have easy access to all types.

I still stand by my comments- it is a slippery slope for any dog owners if one mistake could get you banned from keeping dogs for 5 years as stated in the article.

I think there is a vast difference between a wayward spaniel chasing a deer whilst the owner is trying to regain control of the dog in comparison to a criminals lurcher which is encouraged and followed by the owner before the owner intervenes and cuts the deer’s throat before taking the carcass home to hang in his shed.
 
Running a dog on a place you have permission should be legal, I laugh when people enjoy watching African wild dogs on a nature program, but object to running dogs, deer are no different to rabbits or foxes, it’s why the uk is overrun with deer, shoot any deer with a black cross on them, in season, to much alleged breeding program,when that’s all you have is a couple of hundred acres.

I totally agree with you, However the judges verdict that even if it was an accident the outcome would be the same-

Whilst it was not Nickolas Chenier's intention for his dog to attack and injure a deer that day, this incident shows that using dogs to hunt wildlife can have additional serious and unforeseen consequences."
 
I don't think that the owner of the notorious labrador "Fenton" (who was notoriously filmed trying to catch deer in Richmond Park) was prosecuted. National humiliation was perhaps deemed sufficient.

I think that there has to be intent, not accident.

We would regularly see dogs chasing deer through Ashridge , closely followed by a red faced owner screaming their lungs out for their dog to return, whilst simultaneously swearing about that ducking fog!!

Then we would occasionally see a more ‘hunting’ style of dog (mastiff stylee) belting through on the trail of the deer but with no owner in sight - these were intentionally being set onto the deer - an we would report them each and every time to the range office.

You are reading this too literally- the main point is “hunt” and the intent on the part of the accused.
