Thanks I will investigate tomorrowLeaflet from the Shooting Show.
That's good news indeed. Of course this whole postcode lottery as regards GPs involvement and their fees remains a mess and BASC has argued for mandatory involvement of GPs in the firearms licensing process for a set fee. However, in recent events, the policing minister has even rejected proposals to make it mandatory for GPs to place a marker on the medical notes of certificate holders . That is despite 83 per cent of respondents supporting this proposal. In the midst of changing doctors as we’ve moved a few miles and they’ve said £50 and done within 14 days. result!

Exactly that. And is that not part of the reason why we're still required to get medicals at renewal even if it should have been done the first time? Because plod can't trust that your original GP actually did it...
Why not lobby to return to the previous system as the police don't seem to trust the new one they implementedThat's good news indeed. Government’s decision unnecessary and an erosion of civil liberties, says BASC
BASC has strongly condemned the government’s decision to grant police automatic powers of entry into firearms certificate holders' homes.basc.org.uk
Which system? Pre-2016?Why not lobby to return to the previous system as the police don't seem to trust the new one they implemented
If I recall correctly, and please anyone correct me if I have got it wrong, due to a number of tragic incidents where certificate holders did not disclose relevant medical conditions at renewal that is when we stopped being trusted to self-declare despite it being an offence not to be knowingly truthful or some words to that effect. So I don't see use getting back to that system again. The one where we ticked a box to confirm "nothing since last application"
However the police don't trust the current system, otherwise it wouldn't have to be done every renewalIf I recall correctly, and please anyone correct me if I have got it wrong, due to a number of tragic incidents where certificate holders did not disclose relevant medical conditions at renewal that is when we stopped being trusted to self-declare despite it being an offence not to be knowingly truthful or some words to that effect.
