Rem 700 Triggers

Having recently acquired a remmy ‘custom’ I am considering trigger options. This needs to be pretty light, I have a slight preference for 2 stage (a childhood of Weirauch usage) or even set triggers-although these seem like rocking horse poo. What are folks running, pros and cons. Thanks.

I have a Basix fitted to one of mine, quite like it, smooth and predictable in use, I also have a factory trigger on another that I suspect has been worked on as its equally nice (don't know who did it though)

Riflebasix in mine. Single stage. V nice.
I fitted a GC2 to my range rifle. Brilliant but v light. I don't think they are available now.

I had mine worked on by a rifle smith who got it to 3.5lbs and said it wasn’t safe to get it lighter, my preference is quite a bit lighter than that.
He was rubbish then!
Last one I did broke like a grass rod at 1.7lb on standard springing and full sear engagement.

Sounds like he just adjusted sear engagement, typical.

I have a rifle basix single stage on mine that is set at 1.5 lbs . My mate has a triggertech 2 stage on his.
Both are excellent but I also like 2 stage triggers as I have one on my trg.
If I was starting again I would buy a 2 stage.
I don't like set triggers

No

He spent an hour adjusting the trigger to be safe in operation with the brief to lighten the trigger as far as safe to do so

The trigger in question failed drop test at 2.5 lbs so was ajusted to a safe 3.5 lb with proper sear engagement , overtravel.

By all means ajust the trigger more - maybe Jh83 will send it you to do so - but you take responsibility for the concequences of failure shoukd that occur

I had a set trigger on a Sendero a long time ago and couldn't find it on google so probably no longer about though there are Jard I believe.

Fully agree mate

I take it as gospel that it was done correctly

Hence why I am switching the whole unit out

I have triggertech diamond 2 stage triggers on my stalking rifle, PRS centrefire and PRS 22 rifle, all adjusted the same - a spendy solution but very nice triggers. for single stage on hunting rifles i mostly supply and fit triggertech specials, or BiX n Andy Dakota triggers - both very good and adjust to about 1lb.

i've just bought a t3 with a timney 2 stage, and whilst it feels ok (very good in fact) its nowhere near the triggertech diamonds which in my opinion are the gold standard

I've just got a TriggerTech Special 2 Stage on my NRL Hunter Rifle. Doesn't go as light as the Diamond but goes as light enough to suite my preference. Cheaper than the Diamond too.

calvin elite for me for my rem 700, if in doubt see a gunsmith, i know my way around triggers, but wont do triggers for someone else, nope no chance not anymore, as ronin says go see a reputable gunsmith.

Same as OP - started with hw100 / air wolf and prefer a light 2 stage.
I’ve got diamond trigger tech and Calvin elite which are both very good.
