Which IR torch for the Alpex 4k?

This is exactly what I am thinking.

With sensitivity of Alpex 4K, there is really no need for anything stronger than HIKMICRO LED Hikmicro Alpex 850 IR Torch.
It will fill the whole Alpex 4K field of view when on flood. Whit Alpex at 7x and illumination focused to fill the screen, I was able to spot and ID fox at 200m without any problems.
To be honest, I have never shot a fox at night at longer than 170m.

Cheers
If you have already tried one out , then your sorted .
Im over the moon with mine .

Hi Dari,

The benefit of something with a bit more go is that, for the BLADE at least, you can set it to fill the field of view on base mag and it won't need focussing to a tighter beam unless you are getting well out on distance.

It also won't need messing about with the power adjuster to prevent white out as the beam is completely even , without any dark or hot centre to the beam that other high power illuminators suffer from.

Cheers

So Clive, if I understand correctly, blade will fill the field of view even when Alpex 4K is at base magnification?
My Solaris srx GEN1, fills maybe half of Alpex field of view.
That is why I really prefered HIKMICRO IR TORCH, when I was testing Alpex 4K.

Cheers

Hi Dari,

Yes the BLADE will fill the field of view on base mag on a 3.5x scope.

Just off the back of this please Clive, I’m looking at the Blade myself and wondering if the 940 or 850 gives the better image quality on the Alpex?

Do share, then.
The Wraith ESL.
I’d been using the Blade on my C50 to good effect, when it came out it was a revelation as it was so much smaller and lighter than the Yukon lensed big heavy torches that wherever you mounted them made the set up want to fall over off the sticks or bipod due to their weight, the Blade solved this.
When i bought my first 4K Alpex i thought i wouldn’t have to worry about a torch but its more sensitive and picks up far more artefacts and “dirt” than the C50 did.
I ended up taking it off and used an LED for a while because the Blade was so dirty. Ive tried a few of the bigger torches and none of them
are perfect and i’m buggered if im
using one that big any more.
Then i got a heads up from someone in the same situation and he put me onto the ESL, like me he’d gone through quite a few, its so much cleaner, 2 means of adjusting the pill/beam so you set exactly how much screen you want to fill and then still have the ability to from flood to spot.
Id say it has LED clarity with laser performance.

Is it worth changing my Sirrius Reach for the Wraith in your opinion ?

We've not heard directly from any customers about this issue, but it may possibly be caused by component variance. This is what it should look like with the 4K:

Happy to check your blade over to make sure it's working as it should.

Personally speaking yes, if for nothing else than the fact its lighter and more compact, only you can say though, some people don’t tend to chop about once something works especially if they only go out now and again.
Some folk like to get the absolute max out of their kit, i get FOMO with kit so like to try stuff to rule out thinking i need this or that lol.
My advice would be to do what i did and send Andy at LL a message asking him if its ok to return if your not happy, that way you can have it side by side out in the field with the Sirius for a direct comparison, thats what i did with the Blade/ESL.

Is the flood to spot smooth as my Sirrius Reach is quite stiff ?
Yes, like butter👍

I have a sirus and I’m happy with the results, when I first purchased it I bought a second as a spare that I keep in the car, just incase I forgot my other one. Never let me down and can see at distance, do these new ones see out further?
