We've not heard directly from any customers about this issue, but it may possibly be caused by component variance. This is what it should look like with the 4K:

Probably because they haven’t had both torches together for a direct comparison. i’ve seen the vid before and on a phone it looks very good, played on an ipad or the like its clear to see how dirty the image is when panning, id say thats pretty much the same as the one i had.

The Wraith ESL.
I’d been using the Blade on my C50 to good effect, when it came out it was a revelation as it was so much smaller and lighter than the Yukon lensed big heavy torches that wherever you mounted them made the set up want to fall over off the sticks or bipod due to their weight, the Blade solved this.
When i bought my first 4K Alpex i thought i wouldn’t have to worry about a torch but its more sensitive and picks up far more artefacts and “dirt” than the C50 did.
I ended up taking it off and used an LED for a while because the Blade was so dirty. Ive tried a few of the bigger torches and none of them
are perfect and i’m buggered if im
using one that big any more.
Then i got a heads up from someone in the same situation and he put me onto the ESL, like me he’d gone through quite a few, its so much cleaner, 2 means of adjusting the pill/beam so you set exactly how much screen you want to fill and then still have the ability to from flood to spot.
Id say it has LED clarity with laser performance.

What did you buy, 850 or 940.
I’ve been using my wicked lights which has both but there isn’t any real difference to my eyes.
I’m looking to upgrade and considered the blade but this is sounding better.

I've just started using a Ludicrous Lumens Wraith (thanks, PP) and have found it to be the best IR I've used to date. It's very light and produces a very clean picture. last night the conditions were not ideal but with the ESL and the Alpex I could clearly see rabbits at over 300 yards.

I’ve been using my wicked lights which has both but there isn’t any real difference to my eyes.

I have these i.r units to choose from and from my eyes at my preferred distances the blade is the best ..

Would the wraith deliver the best picture on a digex too? I have been using the wicked lights A51IR combined 850nm and 940nm but would be interested to know if the blade or wraith are an improvement.

All I can say is that I've used the PBiR, Wicked Lights A51iR, and NM1 among others, and all do the job well, but as far as I'm concerned, and I'm out at least five nights a week, the WraithESL has proved the best.

Yes, it's good, but for me, the ESL has the edge. A lot depends on the individual's eyesight and my old eyes are not what they used to be.

I use a Dark Engine Blade. Can tell any difference between that and a PBiR I have so took the weight and size savings

I was out the other night and a mate was trying an Arken Zulus with its inbuilt IR. I switched my blade off on the same target.The 850nm IR from his Arken blew the blade out the water with the image on my Alpex 4K. The cleanest image I have seen yet. I have tried PBIRs Dark engines. Dragonfly and Solaris. Not sure what's going on but it beat them all at 200 yards. The clarity was unbelievable.

More info. The image on the Alpex with the blade was better than the Arken image with its own IR. At 200yards.The Arken IR made the Alpex unbelievable.

How far apart were you when both were aiming at the target?
Its well documented that an IR pointing from the side and not in line with the scope will always look better as the scope isn’t having to look through the beam its own IR is sending.

I've noticed it before seeing an image from another beam. It's a pity they cannot implement it to suit the beam you are looking down on your scope. The image was so good.
