I saw some type of escapee or naturalized big cat in broad daylight on a sunday dinnertime, last summer by Bwlch y dda, between Llanfyllin and Llangedwyn in Powys. It was about 10m or 15m away in broad daylight. I was with my girlfriend and we watched it for about 10 seconds or so before it disappeared into a bank of bracken. It wasn't huge - it was about three or four times the size of a domestic cat. It was black with a square chin, really muscular form, long legs and tail.
Without a doubt it was some type of large cat. I've spent my whole life mooching and hunting in the countryside and wasn't mistaken, my eyes and judgement are good. There have been other sightings of a similar cat in the region.

its fair to say that from the 4000 members that are here and the 80,000 walkers 40,000 dog walkers and 20,000 bikers and 2,301 out for a wee walk every week none yeah none see a wild cat or these large cats more that once if they even see it once.

time to put this to bed.........

I have seen two, about 6 years apart,
a few local farmers have seen them several times, they say they see one once or twice, then nothing for a year or more.

Looks like a big cat to me.....

Several years ago whilst working on a barn i saw one without question it was a big cat, until that time i thought it was all rubbish. The only thing i cant understand is with all the deer stalkers out late in the evenings and first light mornings why has there never been one shot? Whilst out playing with my rifle yesterday i came across this in the frozen ground and placed a 308 case beside it for size comparison, as you can see its pretty big, what is it? Could it be a big dog? There would'nt be a dog walked there but perhaps a stray fox hound i thought?
