Any recent experiences of renewals in Dorset?

Hi folks.

I submitted my coterminous renewal documentation (with completed doctor’s form etc) well in advance (4 months) last autumn with my certificates due to expire in March.
Dorset police acknowledged the receipt of this and immediately sent me an 8 week extension letter.
I’m now over 4 weeks into an 8 week extension and still haven’t heard anything.
With previous experiences of timescales, it’s fairly certain I won’t have a new certificate in my hands prior to the expiry of the 8 week extension.
What have your experiences been? Do they simply start rolling the 8 week extension until they can get their job done?
I’ve sent 2 very gentle emails (which they say they will endeavour to respond to within 72 hours) and haven’t had a reply and one phone call wasn’t answered.
Fortunately too busy with work at the moment to be getting out much so ammunition isn’t a problem.
However, will be organising storage at this rate at significant cost!

Thanks

I found it better to call, mine renewed at the start of Feb, I had an 8 week extension and they got the renewal done just before that ran out. I didn't get my new copy until 2 weeks after but was assured I was covered

If you’re a BASC member hen I’d advise you call their firearms team & ask them to get involved. You have less than 4 weeks left on your extensions & they do not rollover, likely that staff will have been off for the Easter bank holiday & you also have another bank holiday weekend coming up within the window you have left so likely more staff on holiday then too. You need to take the lead on this so speak to BASC or whoever you are a member of & get them in the case asap.

Just been through this with Dorset. Three weeks before the extension expired I had a call from a helpful PC in Blandford who came out the following week and approved all my extra calibres. New certificate landed on my doorstep the same day the extension expired.

This is reassuring!
You don’t have a name/details of the Blandford FEO do you? Don’t worry if you don’t/not willing to share.

My daughter in law had the same problem with Dorset coming to the end of the extension she lost her sense of humour and had a little shout it turned up 2 days later.
