.17 rem fireball is fantastic, incredibly accurate, cheap to load really flat shooting out to 300 yards, really packs a punch and is quieter then a 17hmr
A 17HMR uses 5-6 grains of powder.
A 17 Fireball 15-20 with a 20 grain bullet.
Like for like, the Fireball must be louder.
I use 22 grains of powder in my 21" 17 Rem. Without a sound moderator it is very loud.

I see a few are suggesting 17 Rem or 17FB, are you guys buying box's of ammunition or rolling your own, because round my neck of the woods supply seems to be rather short.
Thankfully i load for my 17Rem if i didn't i would be selling it.
Does the OP re load if not then the choice of calibre will need more thought.
