Was reading through a news forum about deer collissions and someone in the comments mentioned about deer whistles that you can fit to the front grill of the car. With peaked curiosity, I looked around and came across this site that talks about the topic

I fit one to every car I buy. I can't say for certain that they're 100% effective, but I can say the only vehicle I've ever had a close call with didn't have one. Make of that what you will, but it gives me peace of mind to have one

Yes, but its the very idea that they are offering packs of 100 and 50, as well as the singles that staggered me.

Had a couple on the truck for a few years now - foxes and deer do seem to acknowledge the ultrasonic sound and scatter a bit more hastily. Nearly always see deer on my early morning drive to a stalking venue - no close calls to note.

Think I bought them originally as I seem to remember reading that emergency vehicles in Scotland had trialled them and fitted them.

For £8 - it’s surely a punt worth taking.

Very popular in States such as Montana and over the line in BC. Last thing you want is a 1/2 ton moose on your lap at 3am.

Those were very popular in the states some twenty years ago. So popular that the animals got used to the whistle same as they had been used to the sound of a car. They just became one more piece of debris littering the roadside after an rta.
Someone sure did make a pocketful on them though.

Where did you read that 74k strikes occur mainly in April? If that was the case our local authority would need 3 incerators running 24/7!

Yes 74K in a year, nation wide not just in Essex, you can get the data off the BDS and probably BASC, it has been fairly constant over the last few years.
