Funny, all my T-3's will take either T-3 Lite bottom metal or the CTR bottom metal (each taking the two different types of mags). So with mine, yes they are.No they're not.

Interesting, because mine are the same footprint. Even took a CTR bottom metal up to Muir, so he could convert his T-3X to CTR mags. Is a difference maybe between T-3X and T-3 Lite(?). Or maybe a difference in US sold ones?Lite bottom metal in CTR stock looks like this. There's no way regular T3 stock takes CTR mag and bottom metal.

Don't have CTR so pic stolen from post #22 at Tikka T3x vs. CTR vs. aftermarket bottom metal / magazines
Why?You definitely don’t want to be going heavy for sporting use. However, I wouldn’t be going 20” either. Ultimately, it’s all about personal choice.

I’ve just bought one too in 300 PRC, good for the money (mainly based on the stock) but it’s the worst rifle I’ve ever owned in terms of materials, fit and finish and general quality! It is at least accurate but not sure I’d buy another. As a thought - Have a look at the bergara hmr pro, just purchased one. It's fantastic in 6.5 cm. It's one of the american made ones. Can get it in 20 and 24"
No need to swap bottom metals and everything about, it comes with everything you need as standard. Aics mags, triggertech diamond trigger, cerecoted and a fully adjustable stock as standard. It's an upgrade from the earlier models.
I looked at the tilka t3 and they are expensive for what they are now, when i first started they were great. but now a supervarmint and the bergara hmr pro are same price so went for that instead!

The standard HMR to be fair, but I suspect the uplift in cost for the pro version outweighs any improvement in the rifle. The extra £1k+ on the pro puts it into the realm of premium rifles. The hmr 14 or the hmr 14 pro? Only reason I ask is the pro is built in America and the standard in spain. I can't fault the quality on mine to be honest.
I'm coming off the back of having a sauer 404 so I'm a bit of a quality snob. Certainly not the same but more than good enough for me
I’ve the green roughtech in .308 in as 20”. I could of got the same in 6.5cm no problem.I’m in a dilemma with the Roughtech Ember SS (6.5CM) only being available in 24”. My dealer suggested looking for an alternative in 20” for “general stalking” - mainly Yorkshire Roe but will be used north of the border and Ireland for larger beasts too. I’m 6’1” and not worried about weight, just the practical aspect over my shoulder with a mod.
Has anyone had a special order built from Tikka? They fit 20” SS fluted barrels on other models so shouldn’t be too much of an ask?

that’s how I’d measure the barrel.Out of interest, are most people measuring with cleaning rod in muzzle up to closed bolt?
That’s looking like my possible option, it’s the roughtech ember I’m really keen on, no 20” in 6.5cm unfortunatelyI’ve the green roughtech in .308 in as 20”. I could have got the same in 6.5cm no problem.
One for @Laurie, perhaps. Would a 20" barrel experience more throat wear than a 24" barrel if both were loaded to achieve the same muzzle velocity? Just a thought!
There is no stock of a 20” roughtech ember SS in 6.5cm as it’s not offered as a factory option. Hence my question “would 24” barrel be detrimental?”Phone GMK direct they will tell you what stock they have.

On the contrary it would be desirable 6.5 CM has a 24" barrel for a reason I’ve a friend has a 6mm CM that has a 26" barrel no issue carrying or stalking has a moderator fitted also.Hence my question “would 24” barrel be detrimental?”
This is my dilemma! Ballistically the 24” would be preferable from everything I’ve read and been told- no argument there. When my RFD told me he wouldn’t recommend it due to being too long, I asked why would Tikka put it out then!? I can always add a smaller/lighter mod to help compensate the balance? Possibly a Stalon x108 as opposed to the longer model. I’m a much bigger fella than he is- maybe he’s just pushing his preference a little more than I need him to.On the contrary it would be desirable 6.5 CM has a 24" barrel for a reason I’ve a friend has a 6mm CM that has a 26" barrel no issue carrying or stalking has a moderator fitted also.
