A rant about coarse fishing and river woes

Depends where you lamp them , I've shot them on places where as soon as lamp goes on they're off.

Have you shot hares at night ?
No because Hares are game and its hence not allowed to kill game after sunset ! If someone cannot tell a hare from a rabbit then they need to be shown , its not that difficult One has extralong long ears and runs , the other is smaller and hops . A leveret could be tricky for any less practiced person but the length of the ears and the bold black tips on the ears of the Hare is a giveaway .

I've seen hares hop and rabbits run 🤣 Have you seen how fast a rabbit can run with a dog up its arse.

I've been shooting rabbits and hares for 40 years so think I know the difference.

Rubbish ! You need to look more closely( I will say more about this hop and run soon in my reply) I am darn near 60 years old now ( I know i look great for it ) and i was out rabbiting with family before i got into infant school . A Hare makes a lazy single hop when feeding ( similar a horse can make a single hop forward occasionally ) A rabbit 100% cannot run as a horse gallops or a dog runs. If a rabbit tried to gallop it would face plant ! If you had done any amount of rabbit snaring you would know this , have a look at the track it leaves is hop, hop, hop .
The hare runs a heck of a lot faster than a rabbit and has the ability to throw that which might catch it ( like a Greyhound ) and the single dog rarely do win because the hare is far faster to turn . When a hare is grazing it does so selectively eating selective favourites to eat as it sort of "lolopes" but watch the rear end its not a hop the front nor the rear are syntonised into a true hop !
I have seen many dogs catch Rabbits on the "run" actually as pointed out it should be "on the HOP" . But only the specialist running dogs take hare on the run If the thing is not injured or very unwell.

I dont think any one is confusing rabbits and hares.
What law are you refering too

It's great how a thread on the state of UK rivers & ponds has morphed into catching rabbits with lurchers...

Yep, rabbits can run... Chaz & Dave even penned a tune about them... I'm sure Bowland will have been their Roadie at some point in time....
