50g ttsx in a 222?

The tip does have a purpose - it improves the BC. The tip does nothing for expansion, even hinders it.

It's really not hard to pull the tips out to suit the 1:14" barrels though.

The 222 and it's 1:14" twist was designed way before long plastic tipped copper bullets were around. I think our unique needs for our small UK market are not of any real concern for manufacturers.

Fair,(considering hollow points open up and all that).

How do you find the 50grain .222 copper does on roe? Appreciate they’re not big animals but do they zip straight through?

Cheers!

The TTSX 50g that I've used on roe, albeit in a 22/250, has done the job. I shot one in the chest, face on, and found the perfectly mushroomed bullet in the elbow area of the front leg. If it is an elbow 🤷‍♂️

They expand and penetrate well for me with my 220 Swift. Here are a few that I've recovered from either head/neck shots or longer distances. Most of the bullets pass through.

22-250 is a world of difference to .222 - having had a couple of the former, and many of the latter.

I’d suspect the 50g performs well on roe, but I’d keep it under 125 ish, and still expect some dead runners

Nice shape to them

It works well out to 200 no problems but most are a lot closer. I’ve shot stuff with a .300 win mag and you’ll still get dead runners. Adrenaline makes all the difference 👍
