Roe kids

Has anyone else noticed a lack of Roe kids this year. Out yesterday evening and saw about a dozen does, only 2 had a single kid and the rest nothing with them.

I usually would see most does with twins but I have noticed lots with only a single or none at all.

Just wondering if this really dry year has been detrimental?

Could it be that due to the dry year, and therefore a difference in what forage is available and where, they might just not be where you usually see them?
Just a thought.

Bear in mind that the kids arnt necessarily with the does. Massive disturbance by bucks chasing does causes the family group to not always be together. Seen plenty of does leaving kids in the last week. Watched a doe chased away from kids by a buck last week, said doe and buck then bedded down in a bean feild for 3 hours before the doe came to check her twins.

Just been out now checking stubbles for tomorrow, just seen another doe with a single kid

We've seen a lot but the beginning of the year was absolutely fantastic for grass growth and the first cut, also an earlier than normal spring too.

Wouldnt be surprised if we had a few die off after though, It did go very dry here for a moment.

Seeing a lot of them on my permission in Northumberland, I was out foxing last night and they were everywhere, Can't say the same about the foxes, Two blanks in a row

The does on my trail cams have kids at foot (got some great footage of one looking very confused when mummy runs off with a buck). One older doe clearly still lactating a decent amount based on the size of her bag. Have seen others with singles and twins elsewhere.

Saw a set of triplets tonight. In another field I saw what I thought was a doe with a single but another look with the thermal confirmed the other twin was still sleeping in cover and had been temporarily left behind.
