Darkening/coloring of antler

Hi all,

Can someone point me in the direction where I can buy some die or suggest how to get a naturalish color back into the antlers? A friend shot this lad who was just out of velvet. Still very white, photo isn't great.

All advice appreciated thanks!

Other suppliers are available:

Plenty of threads here on SD, and videos on YouTube, on how to use it.

Briwax walnut works really well and can be bought really easy (and is also useful for other things) it will stain It very dark chocolate colour though! but with a bit of buffing it will come off and show naturally high and low points.

Nice stag, very similar too my first proper one.

There is this stuff made in Germany called "St. Hubertus Hirschhorn Beize". It is light dye that can be painted on. It goes on looking purple, but dries antler brown. It can be built-up like a watercolour paint.

Just sounds like potassium permanganate in a more expensive bottle.

definitely try potassium permanganate, keep putting coats on until you get the required colour you want.
