A mate and myself have been looking at doing our DSC2 for a while now and have finally decided to take the plunge.

We both have our DSC1, Insurance, First Aid & Forestry Certs and have shot a lot of deer.

He passed his a few weeks ago and I hope to do mine in the next few weeks.

Anyway, we were going to share a forestry syndicate for just the two of us, but have been told that we need to have had our DSC2 for a minimum of 3 years in order to apply! What a load of b*llocks!

Next they will be asking for an appendage of no less than 12 inches!!!

ah the DSC scam good to see it working exactly how the folk who created it want it to , remember when we were told it definately wouldnt be used for grants of fac :thumb::lol:

I’d keep your money and find another syndicate (easier said than done I appreciate). By that metric you could have passed your DSC2 three years + ago and not shot a single deer since…..

I wouldn’t care to stalk with people who think that way. I sense that you’ll be met with either a clique that you never quite meet the criteria to be part of or a sliding set of ‘rules’ made up as they go along that only apply to some not all. I’ve seen those sorts of game shoots and stalking syndicates before…..avoid.

Trouble is that with the DSC2 as it is now, you can pass your DSC1 without shooting any deer, you can then go and do a DSC2 and shoot just the one deer to pass.

I suspect the forestry owner has pt a min of 3 years so that they get experienced stalkers. In plenty of jobs and professions there are minimum expectations post qualification.

I'm really not sure how you get that just because someone passed something many years ago they automatically become better at it? I passed mine 10+ years ago and nobody but me knows how many deer I have or have not shot? A friend of mine passed her driving test 29 years ago and still dare not go on a motorway 🥵

No way would I chop two inch off just to join a syndicate.

So you are in hospital needing major surgery. Would you want the newby or would you like the surgeon with many years experience?

What the newby who has only done 6 months but done surgery every day, or the person who spends the vast majority of their time on the golf course only bothering to work once or twice a year when the old pension needs a top up, I'll leave you to decide on that one 🤔
