I received a message this morning from a farmer showing 100+ greylags on newly sown grass/clover mix.

By now it was 11am so grabbed the rifle and shotgun and headed over for a walkabout.

Checked the field and no geese so headed off in search of pheasants and squirrels.

After a few hours ended up back at original field and the geese were back so back to the motor and switched shotgun for rifle.

Had to crawl 50 yds to get into a shooting position and took a greylag.

I then set up with the decoys to see if any came back , a lone goose came which I bagged too.

A really enjoyable afternoon..

Ah just your normal stuff, should be ashamed of yourself for killing defenseless animals etc, "I'm going to call the Gardai when I get home" which could cause bother as I was using corvid decoys mixed with my pigeons which is a nono.

Must of been vegan. I've never seen animals tooled up!

Can you not use pigeon and crow decoys together ?

Apart from being a bit thick she has a very good nose and usually I can read her very well, just was lazy that day!

I went out before light this morning to look for deer. Didn't see any but there was a nice show ( for here these days) of rabbits so in with the rabbit load and the stalking began.
Got two. One at 5 yards and one at 6. Not stalked rabbits that close for ages.

Missed a pheasant at 10yds
Tried stalking a woodcock, not to shoot but to simply actually see it with the naked eye before it alights !

I get gout but feels like a broken bone in my ankle.Rubbed in max strength ibuprofen gel.

I know I've had it in the past and at present

I've been taking Colcichin today and its a bit better so going out tonight but not much walking , calling from the back of the truck.
