Specimen Fishes any species..

Pike 44lb is a dream fish. When/ where was it caught? Does it appear on the top 50 list?
D
Looking at my notes, I caught this fish twice, once at 44.4oz and again at 44lb.8oz in early January 2020. The first capture was December 2019. I also caught a different fish bang on 40lbs, and loads of upper twenties and a few 30s up to 39lbs. When I caught that big girl the 2nd time, I decided to pull off and leave them alone.
I would never tell anyone the location. The place would get destroyed with every bounty hunter in the country wanting to catch those fishes just to claim some silly record... I've seen it all before, then the pikes die, and it's all ruined. If someone stumbles onto the pit like I did, good luck to them. I never even told my brother or nephew. One fishing pal has clocked the photos hanging on the office wall... he just smiled and never asked ;).

30+ years ago one day I have two dace at 1lb 2oz each. The BR then was 1lb 4 oz.
Whole brook fish population was later wiped out by a huge spill of pig slurry.
I was heart broken to see all the brooks wildlife to be destroyed overnight.
Severn trent restocked but with fish never previously present.

What a great shame, the rivers get everything bad chucked at them, and they still manage to breathe.. just.
Those Dace, poor buggers, do you have a photo to post?

That’s from my syndicate in the colne valley, the mecca of carp fishing, I drive 125 miles the fish there
The trouble with carp fishing is that it has become too popular. To many bank rats, everyone is following the same well trodden paths.
I know people who are going onto waters knowing where "The big One" has been caught from with every capture for the last decade, how many wraps it is to "The Spot", what bait and what time of year... I don't call that fishing anymore.

I don’t chase the big one on that water, it’s not old enough!

I know exactly where it is. I know exactly how to catch it and I know exactly what bait to use etc but it doesn’t interest me. Never has been on that syndicate six years and I can’t tell you the last time I fished the North Bank I see where all the bivvy hippies are and head south far away from Emma as possible and go and find some crusty snags f
