I'm glad I've got a good dog

Nice.
I thought my eyes might be playing tricks on me when I didn't spot the hound.
A good dog is worth its weight in gold.

Good job done there,:thumb: I had the same event, but without a dog .... ages later I was about to give up & declare alien abduction, I looked at my feet into a slot with running water & there it was.
I always gave the dusk stalk a miss not having a dog.

Granted, But I was pointing out that fact for Mr Zambezi, as he seems to have been trying to make a link?

My bad. Turns out I do not know where Carmarthenshire is.

I thought it to be in Scotland [confused it with Clackmannanshire methinks] and thus my post was attempting to validate the buck's selection in November.

I've had out of season licences on various grounds for many years now, but I don't shoot Roe out of season unless specifically asked to do so. I do shoot Red and Sika out of season because of the damage they can do in replanted clearfell.
The ground that I am on now has 600 acres of replant in various stages of growth, so have been hard on the deer.

You can't beat a good reliable dog for finding deer you don't need much cover or ground undulations for even a red to just disappear.
I work my HWV like I would looking for game and cast him down wind then just watch, makes my day when he locks on even if I do know where the deer is.
