Shooting community prepares to fight “existential threat”

One can only dream if not say good bye to lots of shooter's
Complacent and apathetic shooters are the problem, BASC (not having a go at them) consider it good if a couple of thousand reply to a tick box online consultation, when there are approx 700,000 fac/sgc holders, add in air rifle users and other field sport followers and its quite a poor return, most won't bother to contact their MP on shooting related matters with the usual "whats the point" attitude

But it's not though, it's not stopping any crime whatsoever.
indeed but the general public are gullible and know little about or care little about u.k. firearms laws so if the media say much tighter gun laws are now being introduced as this government is tought on law and order then who but us gives a monkey.

but the issue is how the consultation is word likely biased towards the outcome their agenda wants.

I agree, however my point being most will pay their dues to a shooting organisation and think they're helping, or let others fight their corner, what we need is people writing to their MPs , if every shooter of whatever discipline wrote to their MP it can only be seen as proactive as opposed to shooting orgs always being on the back foot

Most shooters will carry on and we will go through a process of demonstrating good reason for all the shotguns we own. We know the police are already failing miserably to administer the current licensing, so the additional work will cause more and more delays to an already broken system.

What will it achieve for those who carry on, perhaps they will not be able to show good reason for a or 2 shotguns. Taking 1 or 2 shotgun out of a cabinet will make no difference to public safety, as 1x gun is all that is needed.

We might even get land inspections, is that land suitable for a 16 bore or a 12 bore, the bureaucracy they can invent remains to be determined.
