Latest article on lead micro and nano particles in deer and grouse

Freeforester Q "...institutions (mostly foreign) are buying up large tracts of land to offset their carbon and are receiving grant funding paid by all of us tax payers to put up fences, shoot all the deer and plant trees, or are planting windmills. ". UQ

Speer Chucker Q "...it seems their preference is to drown out reasoned debate with threats and aggression." UQ

Yes..and .it's not confined to the UK. Our opposition here down under is doing the same thing. They are organized, vocal, persistent and loud while we sit back quietly shaking our conservative heads.

In time history will judge this time in the chronicles of the early 21st century as being - The Age Of The Great Con.
In the 1600s, the Puritans represented less than 15% of the population apparently...look what they did to the country...never underestimate a determined minority...no matter how nutty they may seem

Few things to remember here. Lead, tin and copper are all naturally occurring metals and their oxides and salts are not very nice either.
The only benefit is that they are typically locked away in rocks so don’t cause us issues, but they are there.

Shooting chunks of lead into our environment isn’t the best of ideas, even though it performs very well as a projectile (or part of one) so not doing that makes sense.
But, in reality, other forms of pollution are infinitely greater in scale than lead is from shooting an they are as bad if not worse for us than lead is, so if we really want to clean up then we do it across industry and within our homes too, else it’s all lip service.

I will move 100% to copper bullets in time but I understand that I will have to make adjustments to how I stalk.

That being said, this was the wound caused by a 150gn Ecx out of my 308 onto a cwd last week, and I can’t see any issues with this performance.

This was a bang flop at 130m

Was that a hand grenade, or RPG? What ever they are they want shooting into a sand bank, never to be used again 🙈

As long as it's "bang flop" every time, does it really matter what makes the hole.........?

D.
Bang flop, yes I remember those. Back when I used to shoot nosler ballistic silver tips in my .308 they were the usual shot reaction. With pretty much every lead free offering I’ve used in the same rifle, the only bang flops I get are from head/neck shots.

They just run further with lead free if chest shot. Sometimes a lot further if the bullet doesn’t expand……

I had taken the shoulders off and cut out a few bits and had a good look at the wound channel (moving bits around, etc) before I took the photo - it wasn’t as bad as that once I had skinned it.
I did another neck shot tonight so will take a pic of that once skinned but before I start cutting.

Yes - noticed that tonight. 2 shots.
1 neck = dropped on the spot
1 h+l = ran 50m despite taking out both lungs.

Am going to flip to hornsdy CX 125gn when I have used these up just to help get a bit more expansion on smaller deer when only hitting ribs.
