Also I believe he has gone further with regard to external verification/accreditation than DMQ has?
No, all DMQ courses, have required formal Assessment by qualified Assessors, internal verification, again by qualified IQA’s and external quality assurance for ever they just haven’t shouted about it because it’s such a standard thing in professional training circles that nobody bothers to mention it. It’s like selling a car and making a big deal about it having a steering wheel, of course it has!

At least DSC allows 3 days for level 1. And its £340. Pds1 is anything from £500 for a day.

I've had a few clients take their PDS1 and frankly had learnt bugger all. As far as I know there's not even internal Verifiers or a board. Its all made up as far as I can see.
As far as I can see they’re all made up Courses dmq pds etc if people are willing to pay let them , I’ve taken lads out who’ve done dsc level 1 and 2 and frankly know nothing , you pay your money you take your choice , I can’t fault the chap who does the pds courses he knows folk love a bit of paper more power to him

I'm all for it on the basis that us Creedmoor owners will get one automatically. As we all know our rifles kill to ranges most others would even think of, with no effort..frankly the man buns, fake tans and thongs scare most deer to death without need for actually pulling the trigger

I have had the same in the past more from folk with level 2 myself being an AW have questioned them on how they got their level 2 🤷‍♂️ but I seriously believe that the level 1 is a good thing and the level 2 properly done should be the gold standard, there is no doubt that standards have to rise they have sadly been dropping in recent years, this is where DMQ need to step up their game.
Training is a good thing every day is a school day!

Obviously not researched PDS1 then.
Plenty of level 2’s get done in the pub.
Sadly we’ve been forced to become paper chasers, some of us just to keep our jobs. You’ve made money by taking level 2s out and teaching and assessing, either by guiding newcomers and charging for the outing or outing fees for the level 2.
Yet other folk do it and they’re wrong. See the hypocrisy?

There is no difference between the DSC syllabus or the PDS. What you’ve experienced is folks who have done the PDS introduction course ( a stand alone course similar to what both BASC and the likes of the NGO offer).
Grifters or business men call them what you will but I suggest all of us that are in the industry have a look in the mirror when you are charging folks for anything stalking related.
It’s a way to make a living for some us and put food on the table, for some it’s just a hobby.
I despise mission creep like the majority but this level 3 course is not aimed at the everyday stalker, guide or stalking providers.
Not sure why everyone is getting their knickers in a twist.
Have a nice day everyone 😎

If you’ve culled deer professionally you should auto qualify for this new qualification. All contractors should obtain a reference from the employer/FLS and then should be automatically upgraded from DSC2 in my opinion.

I agree with that, same as Level 1 I asked about getting my level 1 through grandfather rights I had been stalking for 20yrs at that time but was told no, my boss at the time asked if I needed to do it I said no but eventually had to do both 1 and 2 to keep other folk happy

I agree with the sentiment that experience will trump a piece of paper every time...but alas...its the world we live in. Getting out and shooting deer has helped me be a better stalker...but I did enjoy doing both DSC1 in 2013 and DSC2 this year...and the DSC was not done in a pub :) DSC 2 also allows me to supply deer to a AGHE (they require DSC2 and Non Toxic - buts lets not digress :))

1 and 2 don’t fall into this catergory for me as you have to have some bench mark qualification or else you could make anything up but for a level 3 my view is different. If contracting with FLS the standards are high.

FLS the standards are high
a person who has proven themselves over many years should have grandfather rights, the same as when the hgv license was introduced, as for FLS I have met many of them and a few I have seen fell well below what they thought they where so low standards are everywhere

Not where I was working no way. Extremely high and continually monitored. That’s my only experience.

I have. I approached Lantra, and anyone can come up with a course. Providing Lantra are happy with the paperwork, you can run the course with Lantra approval.

As I have mentioned I have had one or two people who undertook their Pds 1. Three guys took the course, and yes , it was in the back of a pub by the way it was run. Not even a full day, and signed off. They didnt even know how to identify a Roe doe from a Roe buck once the bucks had cast, they had no idea about the limits of permitted shooting light, and far more. They were charged £500 each, that's £1500 for less than a days work, and the certificate stated that they had achieved an approx 75% pass.................... really.

I don't give a stuff whether some one takes their DMQ 1 or PDS1, but I wouldn't want to see anyone ripped off like those guys have been. And DMQ Level 2 is not done in a pub. In the past with the paper version there were some unscrupulous individuals. Not so easy now its changed. At least there is some form of checking with DMQ, Assessors and Internal verifiers. Is that the same with this PDS1 then?

Read my post properly and then take a breath fella.
PDS 1 is an online course that requires around 30 hrs of input and modular tests and a final exam. It teaches the same syllabus as DSC 1
It’s a non attendance course.
The shooting test is similar to the DSc version and is done by an assessor.

There is an introduction to stalking course that is run over a single day and holds no accreditation. Costs around £500. Pay your money and take a chance if that’s what you’re in to.
A couple of decades ago i introduced a mate to stalking. Took him out and he shot his first deer. Showed him how to gralloch etc.
Fast forward a couple of years he was my witness on my level 2.( needed the ticket to retain land)
Take what you want from these courses, they are useful for some but just a formality for others.
They are a cash cow for all those involved, you and I included.
Peter Jones lives in peoples heads rent free.

And DMQ level 2 can very easily done in a pub. Tick a few boxes log on have a chat with the verifier. Job done. Surprising what you hear in the pub after shoot days.

Who verifies the verifiers, where does it end?
In some one’s bank account….. that’s where😂
