All of the above been checked and recheckedFrom experience, It sounds like the shooters rather than the system. I had a sauer 404 and it was fantastic but a bit finiky to set up but a few things to watch.
Sum mount - make sure its tensioned properly. The throw leavers should cam over on the action. Last few mil.
Barrel clamp - make sure you have pushed the barrel all the way baack, close the bolt then tension the bolts properley.
cleaning - mine needed scrubbing out with copper solvent every 100 or so rounds.
Few things shooting wise.
- bipod pre load- sauer 404s dont like it. Use the bipod as a rest with no forward pressure and see what happens. Thats one thing that will throw your grouping all over the shop.
Cheek weld - how high is your scope, you need a consistent cheek weld to the sock each time.
Butt pressure - again varying pressure between shots mixed with the above make for inconsistent shooting.
300m starts showing the floors in people's technique. Its a good distance to dial in the skills.
Hopefully you get your issues rectified!
Thats exactly what happened to my old one. Used boretech cu+ remover and it works a treatThe only rifles that I've owned that suddenly started scattering bullets was due to excessive copper.
A friend had a sauer and he thought he had bought quality.
It was very accurate, in 270. But as soon as it fired x amount of shots it would open it's groups up bad. I lost all interest in sauer after that!
That's certainly not the case, its very hard to tell how someone is coming across in a piece of text, i am grateful for everyone's in put however some people might not have read all the messages on the thread and are suggesting things that have already been tried-checked etc, and a few have repeated that it is shooter related however this is not the case as more than 1 person has shot the rifle with the same results. I have just got the GPO 6-24 x 50 scope through the post and have it fitted on the rifle, even up to power 24 eye relief seems easily obtained. cant take it to the range as its pea soup here and i have family commitments. but hopefully get it to the range tomorrow and i will let you know my findings.Fine, well sounds like you know what the problem is then a don’t need any advice from us.
cleaned every 20 rounds with boretech eliminatorThats exactly what happened to my old one. Used boretech cu+ remover and it works a treat
I used RS60 when working up a copper load and it fouled the barrel very quickly, groups started opening up after 10 shots! The only rifles that I've owned that suddenly started scattering bullets was due to excessive copper.

This might be of help
The contributor recommends a hunting. Scope with parallax not a Target
Good luck
Again all of the above are done, mounted a different scope just waiting for time on the range5 pages and the issue is not yet pinned down?
Clean the bore back to the metal
Shoot high quality factory ammo
Take stock off , check for cracks / warps
Try another scope / mounts
Go get it bore scoped
check the crown of the barrel
Give it to another good shooter to shoot
cleaned every 20 rounds with boretech eliminator
lovely smooth boreHave you any rifling left in the barrel or have you cleaned it all out![]()
Explains it then!lovely smooth bore![]()
In your OP you said the original group you shot at 100m was 15mm.10 points to @nocturnaldave !
Fitted the GPO scope and fired the last 7 rounds I had on that batch of bullets and you can see the group below. Filthy wet day for it but I just needed to know. Very happy with a 7 shot grouping like that on what was a reasonably rushed string of shots. I will wait to hear what Swarovski come back with!
That was shot with the moderator on.
A lot less than the original target! 5 shots all touching and 2 just slightly left of that cluster. I am much happier with that. Those shots are all at 100m I didn’t have enough bullets made up to shoot a big group at 200m.In your OP you said the original group you shot at 100m was 15mm.
Was this group shot at 100mm also?
What does this group measure (looks more than 15mm)?

Bear in mind those small shoot n see targets I am using are only 70mm across.
Couldn’t take the target home to measure as it was sodden and fell to bits when I tried to take it down
