DMC Level 3

Many go on about it just being a money making scheme. There are those on this site that poo hhoo the whole idea of doing the qualification. Some go on about " my lease does not ask for any qualifications". Everyone is intitled to their own opinion. Unfortunately what most do not realise is that estates and forestry company have now picked up the american suing bug fear . So to ofset insurance , those shooting have to have a ticket to say they are competant and have a piece of paper to say so. The debate about those with the ticket are competant is not what I am on about today. Many of the forestry schemes need everyone involved with that block of forestry, to have the quals. I have been in this business most of my life. I have worked for foresters for many years, but every now and then , their auditor turnss round and asks if I have certain qualifications for this and that. I just copy my certs to them and everything is ok again. The main thing just now , as I said on the last poston the new Qualification that came out, would everyone please read what is being proposed by them. Do not get your knickers in a twist over it. It is a bit of a con. Quite happy for those running it to get in touch with me. Again we are 8 pages long on this one and if admin let ir, it will run on and on and get nowhere. Surely there are more important things to discuss. J

Well this could get interesting!

Interesting Statement from BDS.

Clarifying Recent Deer Management Course Announcements

Following enquiries, the BDS would like to clarify recent reports about a course called the DMC3.

A report suggested that this new commercial qualification “brings together learning pathways” from organisations including BASC and the British Deer Society. To avoid confusion, the BDS confirms that neither we nor our partners were consulted on the course content, and we have no involvement in its development or promotion. We also do not endorse claims that it “brings together qualifications and experience from all respected training providers,” though this may imply that materials from other providers have been drawn upon.

The BDS continues to deliver the Deer Manager’s Course, a three-day programme that has long been considered the benchmark for advanced deer management training. It remains practical, informative, and fairly priced at £450, reflecting the costs of delivering high-quality, face-to-face advanced training. We'd also like to add that for those who choose training with the BDS, any proceeds after costs go directly into supporting our wider charitable work, helping us continue to promote sustainable and responsible deer management across the UK.

In addition, the BDS has collaborated with Deer Management Qualifications (of which BASC is also a member) to develop the Deer Management Certificate, intended for those managing deer populations

Neither of these should be confused with the newly promoted DMC3 course.

I finally had a read of the blurb, was looking at their recognition of prior learning / accreditation ... I only scored 7 points, :scared:
Good job I'm not looking to "Advance " my career at this stage in life, £750.00?;)

However, I must congratulate the dmc3 mob for their almost Germanic badge design.

Its gone off topic a bit anyway. What I find disappointing is so many high profile pro stalkers have backed it. Some I would have thought had more sense and seen through what it really is.
Threads always do, high profile stalkers who take clients can't shoot a lot of deer as they are with clients.
To shoot a lot of deer you need an outlet to take ALL deer, muntjac/cwd make nothing as they are small the MJ/cwd are not shot in the head/neck as the client wants the head for his office wall lol
Personally having a higher level of cert would not make me shoot any more, going out more with an outlet for the small deer would make a difference as best guess 80% of SD stalkers don't go out enough lol

Based on various private discussions within the stalking community DMQ committed a significant error of judgement with their attitude towards their AWs which may have opened the door to the alternative deer stalking qualifications becoming established.

More pricey pieces of paper that
1. Won't get you an higher price per carcass if you sell to gamedealers
2.wont get you higher £/kg if process

We Need more folk to aim better in terms of quality of carcass and handling after few carcasses I've seen
And easier more open route to market or avenues for the venison

The main stalkers who have backed it-as far as I can see-are guys with seriously murky pasts, to say the least.

I saw this coming, the instance PJ started with PDS quals he was always going to start devising his own content-in an attempt to dominate the market and become “mr Deer” uk. Anyone who has supported PDS in any way has enabled him.

This is a guy who charges an absurd amount of money to rich city boys to stalk, and hoovers up other people’s permissions in the act, hosting lavish parties in london-is this the image we should be portraying (as lefts face it, it’s all out there to be seen)? It’s a very dangerous, elitist, trophy hunting image of stalking to be put out there on his various media outlets.

It absolutely needs boycotting.

Apart from that you think he's a great guy 🤣

Fed up to the back teeth of courses , many of which are given by folks who couldn't do the job for real to save their own life . Meanwhile the DSC1 has been watered down to one fenced in murder of a fenced in beast at best !
My own first aid is out of date now but i am thinking about doing a real training under someone who really knows the stuff and tells not sells .
