Licensing for knife sales (accessible)

www.gov.uk

The high points are:

It will apply to private individuals as well as businesses.

It will apply to second hand sales.

It will apply to you buying from overseas retailers.

There will be vetting.

There will be a fee (renewable every 3 years).

If you care, please complete the consultation, consider writing to your MP and share with other groups you think might be interested.

Haven't we got enough legislation already!
I only started quickly scanning through this tripe that would have very little effect on reducing "knife crime" and only inconvenience the law abiding when I got to-

3.7. We propose that the best body to administer the licensing system for knife and bladed article sellers is the police. The police have the relevant experience of running the firearms licensing scheme for Registered Firearms Dealers and can carry out the relevant suitability checks.

I fell off my chair laughing :rofl::rofl:, the police already have a pretty poor track record in administering firearms licensing so lets give them something else to make a total bollocks of.

Best stock up from Butchers Warehouse now.
My personal processing will be good for ten years.

Knife sales are not the issue,l have had one since l was ten years old,and thats a while back.
Its stopping ten year olds thinking you are "The Man" if you carry one.

It is IMPORTANT we respond to this. At the end it asks for comments. It doesn't really matter what else you have to say and we all have our own views. Whether "for or agin'" what I am "agin'" is paying for this from funds coming out of my money that I now have to pay to renew my FAC or SGC.

So as shooters now having the pain of increased firearms fees I hope we can agree with what I have written and submitted in my response where, at the end, it asks for comments. Please feel free to cut and past or express in your own words this if you wish:

If a Knife Seller Licence is to be introduced the cost of administration of this should not be taken from the additional funds flowing in to police firearms licensing departments from the recently increased fees for shotgun, firearm or firearms dealer licenses. If the policy of "full cost recovery" is to apply to any Knife Seller Licence it should fully covered from fees payable for those alone. There should be no usurping of any funds now being received from shotgun, firearm or firearm dealers licensing fees to subsidise the administration of licensing importers, manufacturers, retailers or other sellers of knives.

See my response above. Damned if this does come in that we as shooters should see the increased fees we now will be paying usurped to cover the administration of this by...as seemingly suggested...police firearms licensing departments.

It looks like if brought in, it will be a separate license with its own fee:

3.10. The applicant will need to pay a fee for a licence, and we are proposing that the licensing system for knives and bladed articles be self-funding and on a full cost recovery basis, being funded through the fees payable by licence holders. The licence will need to be renewed periodically which will incur a renewal fee.

Once again ,responsible owners are paying the price for the scum who don't five a fk for the law, if the scum can't get hold of knives they will use screwdrivers, hammers, chisels, etc, pretty much every thing in my tool box could kill someone, Just more government overeach
Yes. I knew someone who was stabbed with a screwdriver by a thief trying to break into his car at his smallholding. Carried by choice as it stabs yet none of the risk if caught with it as if caught carrying a knife of equal reach.
