Calibre for foxes in wind

I am looking for a calibre for shooting foxes with on windy hill ground. Most shots are 200 + yards. My 204 snd 22-250 are struggling. I’ve got to either learn to deal with it better or find something that handles it a bit better. Any ideas?

The .22 centrefire rounds are susceptible to wind, especially over longer distances, but as those above suggest, a .243 will cope better, although it'll still be affected. The recommendations to the police favour .22 centrefire for fox control, so if you are having trouble getting authorisation for a .243, (you shouldn't, but maybe) then explain your predicament that you control foxes in an open, elevated terrain where wind is a significant factor and that should do the trick.

First question what bullet weight are you using in the 22250?

If you’re about right on bullet selection a 243 is going to be abit better but you’re probably better up skilling yourself.

55 in 22-250 and 32 in 204 and on a rough experiment wind drift was less on the 204

My flavours in .204 are 32 grain BT’s and 40 grain BT’s in my .223.. However, I had developed a nice 60 grain BT’s & HP round for such occasions where the wind is blowing considerably.. My .223 is 1:8” twist and shoots 40’s & 60’s into rugged hole groups

Are you shooting off sticks or Bipod, I have never struggled with wind drift using my 204 32grn SBK out to 250m.
All my fox shooting is off sticks and if anything I struggle more keeping steady in the wind than wind drift

Tubb 6XC will drive a 107gr bullets with rather same trajectory of a top 243 load. And with a tad less power. I am still developing rounds for my Blaser's barrel in this caliber but results are impressive.First photo a 100 mt shot. Second photo the upper hole is the same load at 200mt with 5 clicks, whilst the one on the right is a factory Norma loads. I was just testing the rifle before going out but consistency is very good
