Bet you wish you could shoot like him…

I reckon he spent some considerable time in his youth playing games on Xbox... and was jolly good... nice to see a professional at work.

I`m sure that some of you blokes sleep under a rock and I don`t know where you blokes have been but I have posted three perhaps four of the Aussie shooters doing these culls.
Interesting though in this one a big sow wore two solid hits and needed the third to drop her.

I always enjoy your posts, John, especially the photography :tiphat:

The real skill there is the guy doing the flying - once he’s got the line & speed right basic physics takes over, shooter travelling at same speed as target = point & shoot, no need for line & lead in the aim.

Absolutely. But, the shooter is exceptionally good, and has to be in total sync with the pilot. I know a team over this side that achieve similar results - mostly donkeys though - with bolt action rifles due to the prohibition on semi-auto's here. 10 round mag restriction too.

hows that then ? does the bullet magic itself across the gap ?

when the bullet leaves the gun the target is still moving while it crosses the gap to the target therefore it will be in a different place to where it was when the bullet left the gun so without lead you will shoot behind

or are my physics wrong ?

The dingo and feral predator numbers in these areas must be significant, of course any remaining feral pigs will use the carcasses as well. Definitely needs to be done, feral pigs are exceptionally damaging on an environment.

Go to about 2:55 in this video - the subject matter is different but the principle is the same.

Basically the bullet already has momentum in the direction the helicopter is travelling, if the chopper & pig are moving at the same speed & in the same direction at the ranges they’re shooting at there is little if any deflection or aiming off required ie point & shoot.
