Old BRNO in 22.lr worth selling or just scrap?

Evening SD faithful.

So, I’ve got an old BRNO in 22.lr it’s a grand thing but I’ve probably not put a round through it since my last renewal. I don’t do any rabbit shooting since moving house and it’s just sat in the cabinet.

I guess my question is to just scrap it ? Or is it even worth anything?

To add, they go at holts for £25, and a dealer will throw in a scrap heap. I love them, but truth is, they’re virtually unsaleable.
As above, I’d offer it for free, or sell the parts as spares. A true all metal mag will be worth more than the entire rifle, crazy really.

Model 1 or 2? Sell of give it away, they are great rifles and price depends on the day of the week. You usually won’t find a decent one for under £100. Model 1 a bit more than model 2 depending on who’s looking.

You won’t find them on shelves under £100, but they don’t move for years and eventually go to holts and sell for £25, buyers then strip the parts and sell on eBay, making around 3x outlay.

Sad really, because IMHO they’re the quintessential 22lr of our times

It's a different market in the UK I guess. Any decent Brno will sell for more than a lot of new 22lr rifles around here, usually $ 500 plus CDN. As others have pointed out, give it to someone to get them started, it will be greatly appreciated by someone.

You’d like to think that, but I’ve seen many starters be very un appreciative of the free ‘old junk’. People are spoiled these days, and too often expect new and modern gear, or they’ll take out a credit card to make it happen. Sad state of human mentality, but I’m not far off.

I agree, giving it to a starter would be ideal, chances are an old bloke with 20 on his license already will show up claiming he’s just into the sport, or an RFD

Although they aren’t worth much, I think mine would be the last I would get rid of.
It’s like an air rifle with attitude and has similar running costs

Old Bruno .22LRs are fine rifles

I suspect the issue might be that an FAC and slot are so hard to acquire that a newbie might want something ‘new and shiny’

However an old Bruno will shoot as well today as when it was new and just as well a new shiny thing

I know a couple of lads who would bite your hand off, however, as yet they are a long way from acquiring their FAC

Offer up as a starter rifle to someone or ask if a local gun club wants it as a club gun either way it will get used

I'm still waiting on my FAC application but would be interested if I could as prefer the idea of classic rifles. I've also asked one of the committee from a club I'm in if they're interested as it's a newish club- they're keen to welcome people to the sport too so could be a good home. I'll update when I hear back.

I wanted something handy and "cheap to run" for vermin around the farm. Went up to my local firearm dealer and he took out all the .22lr rifles he had in stock, both new and second hand. Handled them all and bought an old CZ 452 off him, it just felt better in the hands than any of the others. I know a BRNO is older again, but it would be a shame to scrap it in my opinion.

the variation ended up costing as much as the rile,

Funny enough I am going through this as well, I am getting rid of one because it is right hand and I am not.
