At what velocity ? StrelokPro gives 4.5 inches of drop at 300 yards with 3900 fps at the muzzle ..243 58gr hornadays, it’s a hot bullet, 2” drop at 300- 0.5”high zero. Doesn’t catch the wind too bad with the speed it’s going.
Before that the discontinued sako 55gr was the fox buster!
Edit: both of these bullets are very humane kills, they have the “hot water bottle” effect on foxes upto 300yrds (I’m certain they would do the same at further ranges, but the that’s the max I’ve shot at)

don't forget thats with a 200 yrd zero as well
50 gr v-max out of a 1:14 .223 AI for run of the mill foxing, 75 gr v-max out of a .243 for those particularly windy nights.243 with 75vmax working well for me
Are your 22-250 and your creedmoor shooting the same bullet?Just for comparison, my 22 Creedmoor has half the windrift of my 22-250 and the 80 ELD-M in the Creedmoor has the same drift as my 6XC at 250 yards in a full value 20 mph wind . At 500 the Creedmoor has 1 inch less drift and 10 inch less drop .
I handload for all 3 , though I'm just starting out with the 22Creed so far a pleasure to shoot .
Are your 22-250 and your creedmoor shooting the same bullet?
Anything’s possibleNope , 50 grain Vmax vs 80 grain ELD-M , I know it's not apples for apples . You'd really have to push that Vmax hard to match that ELD in a strong wind . Its probably not possible.
Anything’s possible. Great bullet, it’s what I shoot out of my .223AI.
So a fast twist 22-250 shooting the 80 gr ELD-M is going to be pretty close if not the same as you’re creedmoor. And if it’s a semi custom the 22-250 Ackley will match the creedmoor.
What bullet are you ahooting in the XC?
Chap at the club shoots the 6 XC, seems a very handy little cartridge.A fast twist 22-250 may get near to what I'm getting if you push the pressures , at the expense of brass life . My velocities aren't demonstrating the 22 Creeds capabilities , using a different powder , I've seen another 200fps over the chrono without pressure signs , so with both maxed out the 22-250 will be left wanting . The ES was poor , barrels aren't cheap and I've met my aims with a slower powder .
The 22-250 AI was on my shortlist , further reading revealed those trying to go toe to toe with the 22 CM were loosening primer pockets very quickly .
I've read the arguments in favour of other chamberings , all of them involve pushing the limits or extra work to achieve the same . I genuinely believe the biggest objection by many , is the fact it’s part of the Creedmoor family .
The 6XC is shooting a 108 ELD-M at near 2950fps .
Hello, sorry I tell a lie, my offset it 1” high at 100yrds, not 0.5”. 3996fps muzzle, 2741fps @300yrds 2.02” drop.At what velocity ? StrelokPro gives 4.5 inches of drop at 300 yards with 3900 fps at the muzzle .
Changed moa/inches ( got a new phone, and its reset all of my strelox settingsHello, sorry I tell a lie, my offset it 1” high at 100yrds, not 0.5”. 3996fps muzzle, 2741fps @300yrds 2.02” drop.
This zero setup/bullet works well for me, might not work for all, however 1” high & 2” low is point and shoot engine room on a fox, I have hik with ballistics if I were to need it, but usually just use it to double check my bearings where i decide to sit/stand.
Here’s one from tonight, one shot into the chest head on, Instant lights out, and liquidated insides.
I hope this helps, I would really recommend![]()
