Aberfeldy Shooting

At last Justice has been served. Many will remember this and the slow response on the initial police enquiry.

In fairness I am told the poor victim was lying face down with what appeared to be facial injuries and a lot of blood which was initially thought to have been caused by falling face forward after a heart episode thus creating considerable facial blood.
The fact that some of the shot fell onto the bodybag as he was being prepared for autopsy was a bit of a show stopper - presumably the real cause of the injuries would have been picked up then? At least one would hope so….

Agreed, nobody would have been expecting to find a murder victim. I have just been out for a walk and saw a gentleman trip on a pavement. He has a bump on his chin and was a bit stunned but otherwise Ok.

I think the victim had been found several hours after the incident and it had been raining as well.

Distressing for all, but I am sure some comfort will be taken from justice being served.

The thing is, if you endeavour to get away with a murder, on the whole, it isn't going to happen. Of course there are unsolved cases, but relatively speaking, not many. We can all criticise the police for their handling of more minor (but still serious) matters and it seems this one got off to a shaky start. But with murders, they do pull out all the stops and get results often years and sometimes decades later.

Murder someone and think you've got away with it at your peril. Even decades later with ever advancing forensics, murderers can expect the early morning visit....

At a loss how you miss shotgun trauma to the face? Or did they think the person suffered a heart issue causing discharge of own gun against their face?
Precisely. The trial judge said there were serous police failings. You would expect that a death like this should be presumed suspicious until proven otherwise. Indeed, the first hour(s) after a murder is discovered is critical to swift detection of the culprit, so-called golden hour.

Transpires that the murderer had his SGC revoked so why hadn't his guns been properly accounted for.....another bit of sloppy FLD work?
