Plus if there is no God, the concept of good/evil and suffering are ultimately meaningless human constructs because there would be no such thing as an absolute moral standard. I refuse to believe that their murders were only subjectively wrong or to trivialise suffering.

No body need god to understand suffering, elephants mourn the loss of another.
Good is subjective, those awful nunns that ran the laundries in ireland thought they were doing good.
God is an excuse for weak men to make others suffer.
Huntlys suffering and punishment is over, his victims families are still suffering.
Either the bible is a fairy tale or nonsense, may be some moral stories but no more than other fairy tales.
Why doesnt god do anything to help the helpless?

Actual Good and thinking/claiming one is doing good/'good intentions' are very different things. You act as if good and bad are absolutes by calling the Irish nuns awful. If good/bad are subjective, you can't objectively make that statement about the Irish nuns.

You seem to have missed at least one of my points. You who claims to have enough of a grasp of morality to be able to judge God. What are you doing to help the helpless?

I dont try to help the helpless, i also dont claim to be omnipitant, all knowing, powerful, good, the final judge, the creator.
I dont believe god exists.
I think its just a way to control people and a hangnover from the past before science explained thunder

If you don't try to help the helpless then you are complicit in their suffering. Logically, to then judge others and complain about evil and the problem of suffering is hypocrisy.

If the life, death and resurrection of His Son had not been witnessed by hundreds [and been recorded by secular Roman historians] , it would be somewhat easier to dismiss the rest of the Bible.

But, in life, Jesus Christ affirmed the scriptures to be the word of the God of creation. He declared a life after death and judgement. Evil will not go unpunished even if that justice is not seen in our short lifetime.

Imagine life a few centuries ago, no books or education for the serfs... they walked like lambs to the slaughter every Sunday to church, and sat like well trained dogs on the hard benches, listening to a preacher belt out a fire & brimstone sermon from the pulpit, while they stared at the marvel of the stained glass windows telling them a subliminal message to be good and conform or go to Hell, Hell, Hell...

Basilica Cathedral of St Cecilia in Albi is a fine example of some horrific artwork to scare the $hite out of the uneducated... that's why books were not for the poor, keep 'em down at heel.

What about all the stories in the old testament? Where god did stuff? Why doesnt he now?
Why did he allow huntly to kill the girls?
Was jesus really dead? My mate was called to the hospital because his brother died, when he got there his brother was alive, docs made a mistake.
If that happens in the 21st century i havent got alot of faith in a few romans

He was definitely dead. And the Romans knew quite a bit about killing people.

With the greatest of respect, many followers of Jesus have endured much more - I'm ok with a few harsh words, God is bigger than that.
