Out last night.

Had a call from a farmer who had been given my number by another farmer who I’ve shot foxes for a good few years now
Said he suffers heavy lamb losses every year and the people who stalk on his land “don’t shoot foxes” 🤷‍♂️
Took a look at the ground yesterday afternoon and went back last night
Dog and vixen seen and accounted for

One was going to a party I think!

Just back in from an area search for a Vixen knocked over last night, It went over flat on the strike, tail windmilling madly screaming its head off, it got up before the reload was completed & disappeared out of sight down a bank to a very deep ditch, the dog that was with her evaporated into nowhere, I decided the ground that I have described before as "The Somme" was a no-go, even with a powerful head torch, my ankles & knees are not up to the risk.
No sign this morning, but I am pretty sure it's down for good.
The barking I heard in the nearby forest was an omen for the next few weeks I think.:(

Very mild last night, Hundreds of Frogs and Toads all over the roads, difficult to avoid on a single track roads.
I noticed that too Wednesday night, never seen anything like it before. Probably why I only saw 1 fox, rest were on the lanes getting an easy feed

Big fat blank on the first farm... which is usually the "honey hole" of foxing! Overcast, thick cloud cover was forecast.... not a cloud in the sky and a very bright moon! Nae good

Up to the family plot.... good pal accompanied... was expecting more, hence the second rifle!

Shall go again! Ewes are due to start in 10 days or so...

Not with my 204! I don't have a deer legal calibre mate.

Yeah I could take as many as I like, & roe. I keep debating getting 243 but if im honest, I just dont have enough time in my days to do the butchery/skinning etc justice.

Maybe when the kids are bit older.
That's why I went .223 instead of .204.
I thought long and hard, as I don't want a cabinet full of rifles. 204 seemed like a one-trick pony, although pretty awesome at the varmint game.
I'd love to use my .22 Hornet on the Munties.
