Out last night.

  I knew some smart arse would spot that. There are about 150,000 holes where trees have been pulled up on this ground...and when mr or mrs bunny drops into one of these holes its almost impossible to find the little buggers ...so after 5 mins of walking up and down the rows I decided the foxes (which I cant shoot on this ground) could have a free meal :lol:💋
🤣🥰🤣🥰 we believe you. Must try harder next time 🙊

Waited on the promised rain this morning, as for once I needed it, just over seeded the lawn after scarifying the hell out of the moss, downpour now in progress.

Drove up to the farm (20:20) didn’t even make it up the track, left window down spotted fox rummaging around about 140m away. panic stations. Rifle out as quietly and quickly as possible. Fox oblivious to it all, came in another 10m or so. 75gn of .243 to the boiler room (20:30) in bed by 22:00 easy day at the office. then after the shot the hare that was 80m was decided to run towards the rifle but not the target for the moment, just nice to see the numbers increasing

#23 after missing one on this farm last week much to Mike's joy (haven't missed one far quite a while) 😡
Returned Wednesday night but clanged the gate 😡 with sticks. Fox scarpered
Tonight was sit and wait. after a while spotted this one coming out of wood.
waited till she was about 150m away give her a squeak. Immediately she turned and bolted a loud shout stopped her long enough for the shot at 200m
On seeing her she is a very old vixen about to drop . Right next to my shoot20260313_214909.webp

I had a trip to the pig units after a few rats with the nephew. We managed 108 rodents between us. Road closures and diversions on the way took us on a merry dance across country lanes, but we had a bit of fun along the way.
Edit: neither of us got rugged up properly for the cold, it caught us out a little bit, I'm fueling up on pie & mash to help me get back on track ;)

Last day of Cheltenham Gold Cup week, traditionally associated with Vixens cubbing. Old keepers reckon they stay with cubs for a fortnight. Dogs do the hunting. There was a similar important Race day around Jan 15 (clicketing season) cant remember what it was though. Another one was Ladies Day Ascot week, when the partridges hatch out.

It was flippin cold, I looked at a poultry unit for a while.... trouble was they had killed it out a week ago, so no chickens to draw them in
Nothing on my patch on the way home either. The arable is growing well now, I'll be struggling even more than I am in a few weeks...

I didn't go out. I'm waiting for the new arrivals.
So I've been out before dawn on crows.

How you got on mate ? My neighbour cut his SFI stuff yesterday so last night as i went out foxing i saw crows numbers building - got a date inked in the diary for Tuesday

Not brilliant but it was good.
So yesterday morning after it came light I noticed a dead sheep and the crows were all over it. Well I shot a couple with the 222 but thought I'll come back in the morning with the shotgun and a couple of deeks. It was next to a thick spinney. I was just in time. They started queuing for breakfast before good light. The first to fall were sitters above me.

22 for 27 shots! That's bloody good for me. And I used up some old eley 70mm magnum bb,s!
